Amara 08-255

Profile

Ace 08-254 and Amara 08-255 are siblings and came to us through the same owner as Joey 08-251, Jared 08-252 and Jordan 08-253. Relatives thought they wanted to keep these two darlings but in the end, they decided puppies were too much work and too much of a responsibility for them to handle at this time so they have now turned them over to RAGOM. Ace and Amara have the same mother as Joey, Jared and Jordan. They are part Golden Retriever and part Gordon Setter.

We have a vet appointment late tomorrow afternoon so we will find out more information at that time. We do know they are approximately 8 weeks old, NOT house trained as they were kept outside in a garage kennel, love to play, get along great with other dogs and cats, love to sleep on top of my Goldens and seem to be in really good health.

Last night after they found my arm pit and hair to snuggle into, they slept all night until 5:30 AM this morning. What good little puppies!

Amara is the bold one. She will try to take bones from my Goldens with not a thought. She loves to play and if her brother is tired, she goes for residents, Charlie and Leah. When she is tired though, she will crash because she is so exhausted. She seems to be adjusting rather well to her new surroundings, cats and my Goldens. When her and Ace become separated, she will still go to find him and make sure he is near. She loves to cuddle and have us hold her which is no problem in this household!

Amara is doing well and her personality is starting to shine. She is a very energetic puppy who loves to play. She is almost always trying to engage Ace 08-254 (her brother) or one of the resident dogs in a game of chase or wrestling. She rarely decides to take a nap until I turn out the lights for the night. In fact, last night her and Ace played constantly for nearly 4 hrs! I kept waiting for them to decide it was time for bed but they had too many adventures on their agenda. ha ha

I think she would really like living with another dog to goof around with in her forever home. It would also help her expend some of her energy. We have a neighbor dog (who happens to be a RAGOM success story) and Amara has no fear even though he is a full grown Golden....she is just fine "playing with the big boys".

Amara also inherited a hunting instinct from one or both parents. She likes to have her nose to the ground sniffing away to see if there is anything worth digging for. Sometimes dirt is enough for her palette though once the prize was a worm (gross!). She is absolutely adorable when she lays in the grass ready to pounce.

She is really enjoying going on walks and discovering all the new smells and sights. She is not afraid to check most things out but has common sense though isn't a crazy dare devil either. She does have a habit of jumping up for attention or when she gets excited (like most puppies). I am working on getting her to sit but she hasn't decided that's a better idea yet. :)

I am enjoying my time with Amara but she is ready for her forever family. She is at an age where she is constantly learning about her surroundings and developing who she will be as an adult. She's a fun little girl to be around and will be a great addition to a family. If you are ready to take on a puppy, and prepared to raise an active dog, let placement know you want to meet Amara!

Amara is a gem. She arrived at my house on Wednesday night along with her brother Ace 08-254 (he is hanging out with us while he waits for his ride to his permanent foster in Iowa).

It's been very fun to watch the two of them play with each other, then cozy up real close for a snooze.

Amara has been around adult dogs since she was born and she is quite comfortable with my resident dogs here. She has tried repeatedly to get my Weimaraner to play with her and there is a good size difference between the two! It is cute to see her work her magic as I have now seen him play bow to her and try to get her to chase him.

Amara has been brought UTD on her immunizations and weighed in at 16.6 lbs. Her coat is so silky and shiny, plus she has gorgeous brown accents over her eyes, on her muzzle, and on parts of her body. She's a looker. I have had a couple of people comment how she looks like a PB Gordon Setter so she obviously got her looks from that parent. She loves to play and to run around as fast as she can. Luckily it has been so nice the past few days, as neither she nor Ace want to be inside for long. Since we have been fully awake by 6 am the past few mornings, we are outside while the grass is still soaking wet and her little curls are so cute.

She is doing well with potty training and is following her brother's lead (he has been whining when he needs to go outside). She has had only one accident, though it was on the rug right by the front door. Luckily she still has a small bladder so it's not too hard to clean up an accident here or there.

She must be growing hard because boy, is she an eater! We've had no problems there and she even ate her heartworm pill right up!

This sweet girl won't be around long, so email placementatragom [dot] org know if you want to meet her and get some puppy kisses!
