RAGOM fans ~ please join me in welcoming Murphy to the GReat life! He's been with me for a week now and is one terrific doggie-dude! Murphy is a 3 year old, PB Golden, approximately 67 lbs. He's neutered and UTD on his shots & heartworm preventative. Murphy's a graduate of obedience class, it's pretty cool to have a dog who knows 'kennel-up' & stay in addition to sit (guess that's what happens when the human isn't an obedience school drop-out!) He's good with dogs, cats and kids.

Murphy was surrendered to RAGOM due to separation anxiety. Although not destructive, he'd potty in the house when left alone all day. He was fine when staying with a family that had another dog to keep him company. So a forever family for Murphy should include another dog or someone not working FT. I think Murphy would be happy to forego a fenced yard if it means regular walks as he loves checking all the smells along the way; fortunately he walks nicely with a Gentle Leader ;) Other favorite things include tennis balls (both fetching & de-fuzzing!); rawhide chews; and stuffed toy ducks (it's fun to chew the duck's bill off and pull the stuffing out!).

Contact Placement if Murphy sounds like the perfect dog for you!

Murphy's wondering why his FM has been such a slacker about updating his blog?  Guess my best excuse is that, as a first time foster, it's been way more fun watching his progress adjusting to the RAGOM life than writing about it!  Although Murph was a loved family dog he's pretty skittish about many things and the fear in his eyes was obvious to everyone he's met.  I was even starting to think his ears were deformed they were so scrunched back against his head!  I'm taking his new look of relaxed ears as a sign he's likin' his new life :)  He now runs up & down stairs, and jumps into the car, things he did so hesitantly before that I thought he had hip or back pain (good news for his future furever family ~ x-rays showed no problems!).  The more he's out and about, the less he's startled by new sights & sounds.  Murphy & Mini (resident Golden) even went to Woof Dah for a full day of play with fellow canines -- and humans with nothing to do but spoil them!  For a dog with a sheltered background like Murph, daycare is a great way to experience lots of the fun side of a dog's life!

Murphy really is a sweet dog, rarely barks, gets along with cats as well as other dogs, doesn't counter surf, stays off furniture unless invited, all that good stuff!  Have to admit he does need to work on not peeing inside.  He & Mini were alone for 5 hours on Saturday and did great!  But then he peed in the house yesterday while I was standing right there :o  Wish I knew if I just missed his "signal" ~ or if there was some other reason ~ as it wasn't even a separation anxiety thing since I was home all day.  While that's not exactly an endearing trait, it could be worse.  If you don't believe it... you should read John Grogan's book "Marley & Me" :-]
