| Kaycee was a wonderful companion after the loss of my Golden, Nikki of 14 years. Kaycee came to me as a former "puppy mill mama", and within our 14 short months together we had become the best of friends. She got to experience playing, swimming, canoeing, riding with mom everywhere she went (except to work). She learned great socialization skills with the resident 22lb cat, Sydney, and her new brother, Buddy, came, and then her new sister, Sadie (of which I cannot find her number at the moment). She loved raspberries and would eat them right off the bushes. She loved her pool that forever mom got her, and loved to go to Grandma's and run around and explore the 10 acres of woods and then go for a swim in the river.
Kaycee went to the Rainbow Bridge on 12/18/2009, her liver failed and Dr. Linda, her Vet tried everything, but Kaycee had stopped eating and continued to throw up bile and lost 30 lbs. Dr. Linda put Kaycee to sleep and I held her until she was gone. Moments like those are the hardest moments to experience, but I know I will see her and Nikki again. Kaycee now sits beside Nikki with both paw prints the Vet's office did for me on my dresser in the bedroom, always to be remembered and never forgotten. My heart goes out to those of you who are brave enough and caring enough to adopt a Senior Golden. I would do it again, just to save a Golden from harm and misfortune, like my Kaycee. See you again, Kaycee!!!!! Laurie L.
