Teddie (Dawson 08-211)

Profile

November 14, 2009: Let me introduce Teddie (Dawson). Teddie arrived this afternoon after a short trip across the Twin Cities. He met the crew with no issues at all, it's clear he gets along well with other big dogs. He is pretty confused and unsure what has happened to him. He has explored the house and even ventured into the basement....those stairs can be scary for some dogs, but not Teddie. He has spent the last few hours in the kitchen, I'm sure that will change as he settles in.

Teddie is a two year old Golden Doodle, neutered, approximately 100 pounds, tall, not fat all. He was originally from a puppy mill but was only 4 1/2 months old when he first came into RAGOM. He has been returned to RAGOM because of changes in circumstances in his adoptive home. He has proven himself to be housebroken, no accidents so far, no marking either.

Teddie (Dawson) as a puppy

He will be looking for a home with no children, another large, normal dog and a physical fence. He will not be available to consider future homes for the next week as he needs to settle in and he needs to see the vet for shots and a wellness check. Feel free to email your placement adviser if you are interested in Teddie.

I'll write more as I get to know Teddie.

Teddie has been here for two days and I know more about him. He does not like crates, even giant wire crates. But, he's fine free in the house. He had a long work day today, but he had an hour break at noon, so we didn't really test his bladder. I doubt he'll have that long a day again, especially with the Thanksgiving holiday coming soon.

He had a bath on Sunday and he loved it. The water was black when I was done, so it was due. He allowed me to trim his very long nails....it looked like he hadn't had much experience with getting his nails trimmed...he was quite interested in what I was doing. We cleaned his ears out too, he was very patient. I brushed him and not much came out, meaning he doesn't shed? He has been eating well although so far, he likes to eat off on his own. I don't care how it works, just so he eats.

He has settled in nicely and last night he slept in the bedroom with the rest of us. He likes to be close by. He doesn't seem to have any real fears or quirks. He has found the toybox...and he's a little intimidated by the 10-pound cat :)

We'll update later as we continue to get to know him....we have a vet appointment scehduled for Saturday morning.

Teddie is 100 lbs --- resident dog Finnegan is 60 lbs

I am just big boned. More to love.

Hey Mom!
Who needs a pony when you can have a dog?!
