Scooter arrived this weekend after a long drive from Iowa – a big thanks to everyone who helped with his transport! He is a really beautiful dog, and has the cutest personality. I think his name is Scooter because someone taught him if he wants attention, he should stay put on his bum – so he does not jump, he just scoots over, sits down and wiggles his entire body because he is so happy to be with you. He also smiles – I’m not kidding I have never seen anything like it. When you do something he likes, he pulls his lips up and smiles – you will have to meet him to see it!
Scooter is 9 months old and lived on a farm, and has been around cats, dogs, chickens and peacocks….he is an animal lover! He lived his life as an outdoor dog but has been very comfortable in our home. He is potty trained, respects baby gates, doesn’t chew anything inappropriate, is great with treats, no resource guarding, great with kids (3&6 year olds) and walks like a perfect gentleman on a leash.
It is hard to photograph a black dog and capture the details. He is a GR mix, approximately 55 lbs, his body looks just like a GR only with super shiny black hair instead of red of buff, and a white chest. He has chocolate brown almond shaped eyes and again, this is one of the happiest dogs I have met – including the smile!
He is now current on all his shots, on normal heartworm prevention and has been neutered. He did test positive for Lymes, however does not have any symptoms, so he is taking doxycycline for the next few weeks to address that. Other than that, he is in perfect health.
We have only had Scooter for two days and are already crazy about him! Here are a few photos of him – check him out with his foster sister and brother – they are the red, white and black Golden’s!
