Stubs 08-182

Profile

Meet Stubs. He's a 2 year old, UTD, neutered Golden Retriever/Yellow Lab mix. He just arrived but we can already tell what a great dog he is. He's had some obedience training and is very well-behaved. He walks wonderfully on a leash and rides well in the car. He loves people and gets along with other dogs, both male and female. His paperwork says he also gets along with cats.

Stubs has an old tail injury resulting in a short, crooked tail. Hence the name Stubs. Stubs was a stray living in a shelter. The shelter explored the possibility of Stubs being used as a drug detection dog. That didn't work out but he definitely benefited from the police training. Now he is a RAGOM dog and life can only get better for him. A big thank you to the great volunteers who made it happen.

He'll be going to the vet next week for his wellness check and microchip. I'll let you know how that goes. This is one happy, friendly, lovable boy who will not be in foster care long. More to come as we get to know this sweet, handsome boy. I'll try to get better pictures. Most of them were blurred because he didn't want to sit still for the camera, understandable after his long trip today.

Updates

Here's a quick update on Stubs visit to the vet yesterday. He was well behaved but not too happy to be there. I'm sure he's glad to be back home. He only weighs 52 lbs so he needs to gain some weight. The vet gave him some probiotics to help him get more out of his food. He could be underweight just from the stress of living in a kennel for the last three months. His fecal was negative and he's completely UTD on all his shots. He was microchipped and got started on heartworm preventative as well. He was an excellent passenger, staying quietly in the back seat for the whole trip. Good boy, Stubs.

I'm happy to report Stubs has settled in nicely. He has free roam of the house and has proved himself very trustworthy. He's much calmer today than when he first arrived. He's just a wonderful dog to be around. He's great with kids of all ages. He doesn't seem to have any bad habits at all. He chooses to stay off the furniture which is allowed at our house. Instead he prefers a rug or a dog bed. He allowed me to snap a few shots of him today whereas yesterday he was in constant motion. He's a beautiful dog and my pictures don't do him justice.
