Shilo 08-173

Profile
4/16/08 - Shiloh has been with me now for a couple weeks and I've had a lot of time to get to know her. Shiloh is a very sweet girl who is 6 years old, very dark red, short, who wins the award for cuddling.
When Shiloh is happy she squints her eyes so tight and wiggles her tail. She doesn't do a full tail wag but in time she may.
We went to the vet on Tuesday and it turned out that she is already spayed so no surgery was needed...what a relief. She has two ear infections and she is on meds for that. They also gave her antibiotics to see if that clears up her hair loss. At this time we are not sure why she has hair loss. It may be from a seasonal allergy but currently she is not itching or having any signs or problems with the area.
She is the funniest when it comes to sleeping, she snuggles in so close and tight that there is no moving her. She will snore some nights, not always. She does something different every night. 1st night she would let out one loud snore and wag her tail for a minute, quiet, snore, wag, quiet, snore wag...this went on for a while.
The next night she cuddled in and had her head on my pillow and snored. The next night she slept along my side and no snore, no tail wagging. I guess, it depends on her day. Some nights she sleeps with me and others she sleeps on the floor. Depends on if she gets hot or something.
She wants to be on the furniture with you, or next to you most of the time. She is a very gentle, easy going little girl. She gives gentle kisses to me and my dogs.
Sounds like she spent most of her life as an outside dog living in a kennel. She is short for a golden, could maybe lose a few pounds but isn't overweight just big boned...ha ha. Very dark red hair. She does have a bald spot that seems to be growing back in. Her vet info says they did a thyroid test and that was normal.
All Shiloh wants is a family who wants to play, love and hang out with her. She has been an outside dog most of her life and wants to enjoy the comforts of a warm house. Which is why she loves the couch and bed so much. I don't think I have ever had such a sweet cuddler, she is the perfect cuddle buddy.
Shiloh gets along with cats. Shows no interest in them but looks at them like what is that strange creature. She will go in the litter boxes if given a chance.
I believe Shiloh is a very gentle dog, I don't see her knocking kids over or anything like that but it could happen. She loves following me around all the time, she usually isn't too far from me. She walks really nice on the leash so she will make a great walking partner, not sure about running but you never know. She has no problem getting around so a short run would probably be fine with her.
At the vet she weighed in at 78 lbs. She is short and stalky (big boned is what I like to say) she could lose a few pounds but she doesn't look overweight. I free feed her and she does well with that. I don't believe she over eats at all. I think she has just put the weight on over years of probably not having a lot of exercise.
When it's bed time she usually jumps in bed with me and cuddles closely to me. Once she has picked her spot there is no moving her. I swear she turns into a 300lb dog once she picks her spot.
Last night we had thunder and at bed time she just cuddled in really close. I think she was a little nervous. I woke up around 3:00 and she was under my bed so I don't know if she got scared and crawled under or if she just decided she wanted to sleep there instead. Earlier in the evening the thunder didn't bother her at all.
I don't believe she is 100% house broken and on occasion may have an accident. Since she has been with me she has had 3. Which isn't bad since she lived in a kennel most of her life. Shiloh hasn't had any accidents in a while, she is doing really good with potty training.
She has so much love to give and she is a sweetheart. She will give kisses if I ask and I give her hugs and kisses back. She makes the cutest smiley face when she is happy. She is a great dog.
