Jake 08-125

Profile

Jake is a beautiful 2 1/2 year old purebred Golden. He is healthy, neutered and UTD. He weighs 84 pounds. He has no bite history. He is great with kids over 8, cats and other dogs. For some reason, when he is on a walk and comes across a Poodle, he pulls on his leash and is a bit snarly. He has never been aggressive, just snarly and only with Poodles. He graduated from Twin Cities Obedience School. He has no resource guarding of food or toys. He has no storm or noise anxiety. He is housebroken and rides well in the car. He can turn a doorknob and open a door on his own!

Jake was surrendered because the surrendering owner is single, works full time and is back in school, so Jake was left alone a lot.

Jake had an eval and it is recommended he live with children over 8. He does not like younger children "in his face" or getting too close to him while he's eating. We are going with the “nothing in life is free” method. This is very simple - he must do something good (that we ask him to do) in order to be rewarded. We are working on “drop” all the time and he's getting much better. We do not play tug with him (one of his favorite games) since we're concentrating on the "drop" command.

Jake is the best foot warmer I have (and I have three other dogs)!! Jake knows a ton of commands and they must be said, “JAKE …..” with his name in front. He is your typical young dog with lots of energy. He seems to have very strong hunting skills (which I have NOT taught him!). Jake does do great with the resident dogs and cat. He loves to play as you can tell from the pictures. I will keep everyone updated on him.

P.S. He walks well and does great at the dog park!!

Jake is doing very well! Even though he's 2 1/2, he's still such a puppy! He loves to play, but then he loves to cuddle, and he really likes watching MN Wild Hockey--except when everyone yells when the Wild scores. He just doesn't understand that yet. Jake got to go to Dog Days at the Metrodome tonight and meet lots of nice new friends.

Really, Jake is doing very well. He's had the run of the house for weeks now, and has been an angel. He sleeps throughout the night at the foot of the bed, and has the routine of our resident dogs down. He's a great dog.

Here's a couple of pictures of Jake relaxing on the couch.
