Bode (Sonny 08-041)

Profile

Welcome Sonny to RAGOM! Sonny is a 4 year old purebred Golden boy who was surrendered by a loving owner due to an illness. She wanted to make sure that Sonny got into a loving home. Sonny is scared and did not want to leave his familiar home. Who can blame him! Even his dog walker called me to make sure he would be well cared for. This is a sweet, loved boy!

Sonny is a beautiful red Golden with a thick coat of long Golden hair. He met my dogs, snarked at my boy but cowered to my barky female. Now all have settled down. Sonny has finally stopped panting and is sleeping--well, resting anyway--on the dog bed beside me. He might have an ear infection so I will get him a vet appointment soon. Sonny will be with me for a few days until transport can be arranged to his foster in Grand Forks. Will let you know more as I get to know him.

This is Sonny hanging out in the bathroom, his favorite room. He is a dear boy who will do splendid with love and attention. He comes out of the bathroom when coaxed but then runs back in if he hears a loud noise or there’s a knock on the door. He walks on his leash like a pro and if you get his leash out he will come out of the bathroom with just a little coaxing and then will go anywhere you want.

He loves the car, he loves to play ball. He loves to watch the cats but hasn’t ventured up to them. He has a happy disposition and wags his tail when you talk to him. I haven’t figured out his cues for going outside but he has never had an accident and happily goes out and does his business and comes back in. He sits quietly while I clean his ear (he’s getting over a minor ear infection).

Sonny will be a wonderful companion who just needs to get a little self confidence in his golden step so he can take on the world like the big brave Golden boy that he is!

Sweet Sonny is moving to his permanent foster today. He has been an easy and very pleasant boy to have around! He will make some family a wonderful companion. He is a velcro Golden that loves to snuggle.

Sonny went to the vet this week and he is in great health except for typical Golden ear infections. He is being treated for those. He also comes with a history of allergies. For that he eats a diet of fish and potato dog food. Dr. V at ACH in Richfield could not decide if she wanted to call him a tisch overweight. So we won't! Sonny has a very beautiful, thick coat of hair so he's thinking he just looks thicker than he really is!

Sonny had relaxed quite a bit in the 6 days he's been here but he still startles to loud noises or sudden movements. He has free run of the house when I am away but seems to spend most of that time in the bathroom. It is definitely his safe spot. He gets along great with my dogs and with visiting dogs although he prefers to be greeted less exuberantly and not so in your face as the young pups around my house greet. He will give a a proper growl to teach them their manners.

Sonny loves to chase a ball and loves even more to jump in the air for one. Talk about air dog! He can throw his whole body up pretty high. But don't let that scare you about jumping fences. He's never shown an interest in doing that.

Speaking of manners--Sonny needs to learn not to jump up to show affection and not to pull on the leash. Other than that, he is house trained and treat motivated so he should learn quickly. Let placement know if you are interested in this sweet gentleman.
