Otis (Jordan 07-637)

Profile

Meet Jordan!  Jordan is a two year old yellow lab and Golden Retriever mix.  He almost looks like a miniature version of both breeds, as he's pretty short, and weighs only 48lbs.  But what Jordan lacks in height, he makes up for in affection!  Within the first hour of knowing Jordan, I was already getting the sweetest smooches!  Jordan does well with other dogs, and with children.  He is a playful, friendly guy, who is looking for a home of his own.  More after we get to know him better!

Jordan is still here and doing great!  Jordan fits in so well and he feels like a member of the family...and I'm pretty sure he feels the same!  Now that Jordan knows how it feels to be part of a family, I have no doubt that he'd love one of his own!  If you've had your eye on Jordan, please let your placement advisor know.  Jordan is such a sweet, loving boy, and he's more than ready to start his new life...no boy this wonderful should wait this long for a family!!

Just an update on Jordan...he's still doing fantastic!  Jordan is such a sweet little dude, he just fits in so well.  I think Jordan's favorite part of the day is when he gets to snuggle up on the couch with someone, or snuggle in bed at night.  He still loves playing with other dogs.  In fact we recently had a foster dog, Snookie 07-649, come to stay with us for a weekend, and Jordan loved her!!  Then, the next weekend...a past foster dog (who has been adopted and has a terrific family!!) Hank IA 07-494, came to stay with us for a little bit, and even though Hank is giant and Jordan is pretty small... they get along great!

We have noticed that Jordan hasn't jumped over the fence for awhile.  He did a couple weeks ago when he could see us out front shoveling, and I gues he thought he'd like to come see us!!  But since then Jordan hasn't jumped the fence.  I wouldn't say this means Jordan can be contained by a chainlink fence....but I do think it goes to show that Jordan is really becoming more comfortable with the idea of having a safe home of his own.

Jordan is a terrific dog...pretty calm and laid back, but he does have his sassy and silly moments where he'd love to play.  He enjoys playing fetch in the back yard, or going on walks.  Jordan is happy when he can follow you around the house, and laze about in the room you're in.

Jordan loving the deep snow last weekend!!  "What, 8 inches...bring it on!!"

I am pleased to announce that Jordan will be at the RAGOM event at PetCo in Marion, Iowa, on Saturday, December 1st!  RAGOM will be there from 10am-2pm.  I will try to have Jordan there for the whole event, but no matter what, he will definitely be there from 10am-noon.  So if you're in the area and have been thinking about applying to adopt, or have had your eye on Jordan, please come out and meet us!

Now for a little update and a couple of new pictures.  Jordan and the resident GRs had a great time Wednesday night, when it started snowing!  Jordan loves to run around the yard, and so we made little "snow tennis balls" and threw them around for the dogs.  It was a lot of fun for everyone, and by the time we came back inside, all the dogs were exhausted!

Jordan continues to do exceedingly well here.  He still loves going on walks, playing in the backyard, and hanging out around the house.  He is extremely affectionate, gentle and laid back.  He'd love just about any home, and any family would be truly blessed to have such a wonderful dog as part of their family!

Jordan and resident GR, Truman, out checking out all this new snow.    "Foster mom says I'm a cuddle bug, and I have a great talent of finding the best places to curl into for a snooze!"

Since Jordan has now been here just shy of a full week, I thought I'd fill you in on what we've learned about him. Right now, Jordan is laying on the bed behind me, snuggled up beside the pillow, dreaming of his future forever family! Jordan is just about as cute as can be. He is such a small little guy, which is wonderful when there are two giant Goldens in the house. Jordan has quickly become the favorite to have in bed, snuggling with you. He curls up somewhere on the bed, and lays still (unlike ours, who clomp around like bears on the bed!)

Jordan is also just affectionate in general. Most of the time he'll follow me around, and find a new spot to lay down in whatever room I migrate to. He does like to come up to me every so often for pets and love, and he does it in a way that just melts my heart! Along with being affectionate, Jordan is incredibly laid back. Not much phases him, and even when I can tell something might be new and a bit scary to him, he's such a trooper! He gets a long so well with our male and female Golden, and although he's not constantly playful (like our male wishes he was!), he does have his moments when he'll break out into full out dog play! Jordan also likes almost any toy. One of his cutest tricks is when he plays "kitten" and throws a toy, and then pounces on it! Squeaky toys are a favorite, and playing fetch with a squeaky or tennis ball is tons of fun for him! He also really enjoys sitting down with a nice rawhide bone, and working hard on it!

Jordan and I went on a long walk yesterday, and he sure is excited about being out in the world. He was ready to go, go, go, and his head was down a good deal of the time...just breathing in as many of the smells as he could.

Jordan is such a terrific dog, he'll make a wonderful companion for someone. There is no doubt in my mind that all someone would have to do is meet him, and they'd just be as in love with him as we've become in 5 short days. The only thing Jordan wants me to remind a perspective family is that Jordan will need a home that is ok with keeping him on a tie out. He is so smart and agile that he can jump, or figure his way out of a fence! (In fact a couple times this week he's been sitting on the other side of the fence, still connected to his long tie out!) But Jordan promises that it doesn't bother him, if it doesn't bother you!

Snoozing...hey check out my tail. It's fluffy! I really am a Golden Retriever mix : )

Hanging out on the deck, with my trusty tie out. Oh well, it's still nice to be outdoors!

Not the greatest picture of me, but you can see what size I am compared to my GR foster sister (I'm in the black collar!)

Just a quick update to say that Jordan does fine with free roam of the house while we're gone, or while we're sleeping. He's a cuddly guy, and likes being invited on the bed! Jordan does have one particular talent...he can climb chainlink, and jump fences! So Jordan gets to hang out outside on a tie out. Are you someone who doesn't have a fence but likes to go for walks? Jordan might just be the perfect guy for you!

I had a long day!
