Hi. I guess my name is Frankie. I'm sure I had a name in my former life but I'd rather forget it and move on to my 'new GOLDEN life!' You see, I was found in Minneapolis as a stray by Animal Care and Control. I stayed at Animal Care and Control for about a week- no one came to claim me so the kind people at Minneapolis Animal CARE and Control donated me to RAGOM! Unfortunately, dogs that aren't claimed or adopted at Animal Care and Control are generally put "to sleep" (whatever that is)... I overheard them saying that I was too sweet for that and I was therefore donated to RAGOM. Thank you Minneapolis Animal CARE and Control- you certainly live up to your name! So here I am in St. Paul with my new foster mom and two foster siblings. I now live with Zack, a six year old male Golden Retriever and Olive, a four month old female.

A little bit about me. My foster mom said that I look like a Frankie and therefore that's my new name! I like Frankie! I'm a 1 year old female golden mix. I'm very, very petite. Actually, I'm not that much bigger than Olive! I'm a golden so I'm sweet, which goes without saying. I really like my foster mom. When I get nervous I crawl onto
her lap and then I feel safe.

I rode in the car ok...I had to be tethered to the roll bar of the jeep so that I wouldn't crawl onto my foster mom's lap while she was driving. I relaxed after a bit and laid down for the ride. I met my foster siblings without an incident. However, Olive is a playful puppy and she was a little obsessed with me and I was a little overwhelmed by that at first. It's day two here and I'm getting used to Olive's antics now.

I'm not real "command savvy" yet- I will sit on command but it's not an automatic response for me. My foster mom said that she'll work on some commands with me. Olive is in training too--so what's one more dog in training? Zack is the resident expert so we watch what he does and do it too. I haven't had any potty accidents in the house like Olive does. :)

I hate the kennel but once I'm in it I settle down nicely. I got to sleep on the floor in the bedroom last night. At first I kept jumping on the bed to sleep with my foster mom but she stared at me for a while and I realized that I should just hunker down on the floor for the night. I didn't make a peep all night! I guess I'm a good girl!

I don't eat a lot right now because I'm nervous. My foster mom says that will come with time.

I go to the vet this week for a check up. I think I need to be spayed and microchipped too. After that I'll be ready for my new forever home!

My perfect family would be one where I get lots of hugs, kisses, pets and love. I'd prefer a family that has time and patience to teach me these commands that I'm supposed to learn. I wouldn't mind living with another dog. I'm probably good with kids but I can't remember if I lived with them in the past or not. I'm not at all aggressive and not
real big so I likely wouldn't knock kids over. I'm not sure if I like cats or birds. I'm pretty well adjusted so I think I could live just about anywhere without too much incident. So all you loving families step forward to show interest in me. I'll read your application to see if I think that you're a good match for me! I can't wait to meet you!

Luv, Frankie

Today a cute little Golden found her Forever Home. Our little Frankie went home with a former acquaintance, Janna. We became aware of Janna's love for Frankie... an unselfish love. You see, both Janna and her Dad read about Frankie's prior adoption. They were happy for her because she found a home but at the same time they were sad because they knew that they were the home Frankie needed. At the time, they weren't available to provide that home. Sometimes things happen for a reason. Frankie was returned from her previous adoption after only one day. We realized we needed to place Frankie in a home that was familiar with and could work with her special challenges. Janna and Frankie have a bond... an amazing bond. We are confident after meeting with Janna and her Dad, that we picked the right home this time. Frankie will get to go on lots of walks, go to obedience training and, in time, will be introduced to Janna's other love... her horses.

Thank you both for your determination and patience while we worked through this adoption. Frankie, you are one lucky girl. You are HOME.

Frankie sure knows how to make herself at home. She is a magnet though. She's never far from us when we're in the house. When I'm on the computer, as I am now, she's right behind me, sleeping on the treadmill. That can't be comfortable!!

We need to work on her outside manners a little. When someone is walking by, she'll follow the fence line and continually bark as they are going by. And she loves to hunt. She runs after anything that moves. Frankie appears to have some Border Collie traits. This would account for her size too. Penny, our youngest resident is her pal. They are continually playing tug or just wrestling. Frankie does try to dominate Penny, but try as she may. . . it's not happening.

Frankie would make a good companion for some lucky family. She would be your forever friend. I hope you will consider meeting this petite little girl.
