Trucker 07-612

Profile

Meet Trucker.  He is a happy, energetic boy that I picked up Friday afternoon.  Trucker doesn't appear to be a purebred Golden but he has a pure golden personality.  He is a real sweetie and just loves to give kisses.  He's not shy about letting you know that he wants some attention.   I don't know a lot about his history other than a local shelter called one of our vets in the area and asked if they would be willing to take him as they knew this vet worked with RAGOM.  He's up-to-date on his shots but will be need a couple of booster in the next month.  His HW and SS came back negative.

Trucker gets along just great with my resident golden.  He has lots and lots of energy so he would probably do best in a fenced yard or with an invisible fence.  When we turned him out in the yard with our resident dog on Friday, he just ran and ran and ran.  You could tell he liked the freedom.    He went for what I think must have been his first ever walk yesterday.   He didn't like the gentle leader at first but by the end to the walk he was beginning to figure things out. He's a quick study so it won’t be long before he's heeling like a pro.  He's already learned sit and we're working on down.  Stay is still a ways off.

Trucker loves his chew bones but hasn't figured out what to do with a ball yet.  He had a couple of accident's the first day but everything has been great since then.  I think he was just nervous.  He's crated at night and after a few minutes he settles right down and you never hear another peep out of him.  He met my grand-daughter on Sunday and loved right up on her so he would be great with kids.  He might be a little too energetic for a toddler (he might knock them down trying to give them kisses) but any other age kids would be great.

If you're looking for a really sweet and energetic companion, then Trucker's your guy!

Trucker may not have your classic golden retriever appearance but he most definitely has a very GR disposition. A white tip on his tail and each of his paws as well as a nice patch on his chest makes his appearance different than most, but he has adjusted and adapted much quicker than most to a busy household. Resident dogs (2), cats (4) and kids (3) and fish (1) seemed to be long time acquaintances shortly after he arrived. (OK, I might be stretching it a bit with the fish - but I haven't heard him growl at or go after it yet!)

His personality is one of the best we have seen among our numerous fosters. He is a quick learner and is excellent with the Gentle Leader. Trucker is a dog that is anxious to please and a pleasure to work with. He attaches quickly to all around him. He likes to be outside a lot as well as inside and loves to be close on a cold and stormy night.

Trucker is a SUPER nice short-haired medium sized dog.  He will never overwhelm you but may just steal your heart away if you are not careful!!!!

Mr. Trucker is having a weeks vacation here in Cedar Rapids while his foster family is on a cruise. He is a great houseguest!! He is quite calm for a one year old dog and is getting along great with our resident golden, Maren and shih tzu Yosi. He also is fine with cats and loves kids. He sleeps nicely on our bedroom floor on a fleece bed. He is a medium sized dog and a deep golden color - matches our oak floors!! He has adorable tufts of white fur between his toes which is very cute.

He takes treats nicely, sits and stays, and loves to run around our fenced yard. He would be a wonderful family pet or running partner. We are amazed some lucky family has not snatched him up yet!!! Contact placementatragom [dot] org for more information!!! You won't be sorry!!!

We have had Trucker for awhile now and I haven’t changed my opinion about him. He is a very sweet dog and has a wonderful personality.

It’s estimated that Trucker is between 9-11 months old so he still is very much a puppy and is still in that gangly puppy stage. I don’t think he’ll get much taller but he has started to fill out since he’s been with us.

As with most puppies, he has a lot of energy that he needs to burn off. I won’t lie to you, in the last week or so, he has chewed on a couple of inappropriate things and he's fascinated by the Christmas tree. We've had to move all the ornaments up because he wants to take them off and carry them around. All this is puppy stuff and we're working on it but isn't he cute?!

He's no longer as afraid of the vacuum cleaner monster. Most of the time he now stands in the doorway of the room we're vacuuming with his ears cocked watching to make sure the monster doesn't get out of control but he no longer runs and hides. We've had no accidents since his first couple of days here so I'd say he's completely housebroken. He still jumps when he gets excited but he, for the most part, no longer jumps on the you. He just jumps up and down. He will take your sleeve gently in his mouth if he thinks you're not paying him enough attention but it's not hard enough to do anything but bring him to your attention. He immediately lets go when you pat him.

This is Trucker and my resident dog after they've had a play session. All tuckered out from playing so hard.

Trucker loves his chew bones and loves the kong as you can see.

Trucker loves the snow. He runs and jumps and just has a wonderful time in it. I haven't been able to get any pictures of him playing because he won't stand still long enough. I just have to laugh at him every time he comes back in as his nose is always white.

Trucker really deserves a forever home with people who love him. If you're interested in this sweet dog, please get in touch with placementatragom [dot] org

Trucker has been a part of our family for a little over a week now and all I can say is that this puppy will steal your heart.  He is such sweet dog and has a very golden personality.  He loves attention and can be a little demanding when he thinks he isn't getting enough.  Nothing bad, just the normal sticking his head under your arm when you're at the computer or nosing the paper or a book out of the way to put his head on your lap.  After a few ear rubs and sweet talk, he goes and lays down mostly to chew on his rawhide bone.  As you can tell from the pictures, he LOVES his bones.

Trucker and my resident senior golden get along just great and do a lot of playing as you can see from them both trying to have the same tug rope.  However, when Cody lets him know that he's had enough, Trucker will leave him along until Cody is ready to play again.

Trucker is still very much a puppy and is still learning what's appropriate and what's not. He will jump when he's really excited but knows the word No and will then sit. The only thing that he has chewed on that was inappropriate was he found a couple of pens and chewed the plastic casings up (luckily no ink leaks). He has dug a couple of holes in the backyard but not in the yard itself. One was under the steps of the deck (still not sure how he got there) and the other was in some decorative gravel we have in one place. He would be easy to stop if I had caught him doing it but I didn't find them until after he was done.

Trucker has learned to play ball and will do so for as long as you're willing to throw it. He will bring the ball back to you (after running a couple of circles around you) and will either let you take the ball from his mouth or he will drop it on the ground. He has no resource guarding. You can put your hand in his food bowl and he will even let you take his beloved bones away from him. He's getting better every time we take a walk but a Gentle Leader is still a must. He is afraid of the vacuum cleaner monster. When we run it, he runs and hides either in my office or down the basement until the monster has been vanquished and it's safe for puppies again. He is still sleeping in a crate at night and goes in with no problems when you tell him kennel up. Of course he gets a treat every time for being such a good boy. We have been leaving him out for a couple of hours at a time when we're gone and there hasn't been any problems.

Trucker absolutely loves my 8 yr old grand-daughter. She can hug him, hang on him, and play with him and he just laps it up. He would be a great dog with kids but he may be a little too energetic for very small children. This is only because he may accidentally knock them down trying to love them.

If you're looking for a really sweet, very loving, energetic puppy to bring some sunshine and love into your life, Trucker is the dog for you. Contact placementatragom [dot] org about seeing him.
