Sassy 07-584

Profile

Sassy has arrived in Apple Valley this evening after spending the night at another volunteer’s house.  Michele was able to bring Sassy to the vet this morning and got her up to date on shots, had her ear looked at and also her mammary tumor.  Good news--no cancer, and the tumor will be taken out when she gets spayed this week.

I cannot wait to get to know her. She seems to have both Golden and Lab in her and has a great disposition that we can tell so far.  Sassy has a very dry coat and will get her first bath tomorrow and she has been put on so good food so her coat will come around in a few weeks.  This little lady is a dream and we will tell you more and more about her in the next few days.

So are you looking for an older girl?  You may want to meet this dream. Please contact placement to meet Sassy, and of course she will be at the Chuck and Dons' event on Saturday in Eagan.

Sassy met a wonderful woman and her 10 year old daughter yesterday and I believe it was a match made in heaven.  Sassy is one lucky girl!  She will be going home next weekend to a brand new life.

Little does Sassy know but she will also be going to obedience training which is very important for Sassy because at times she feels like she does not have to listen.  But then there is the good Sassy who can do no wrong and just loves to be next to you and petted.

I am so excited for Sassy and her new family.  Thank you so much, “A” family!!!

Sassy spent the whole weekend outside with us chain sawing trees down.  Loud noises do NOT bother this girl.  She has come so far in such a short amount of time!

Sassy is doing well as you can see from her newest photos. She is still a little itchy because of some allergies but otherwise is in great shape. She went to the vet last week and got her ears peeked at and those were doing fine, but she still had a little infection in them so we continue to clean and treat her for ear infections. She will need to always have her ears cleaned to prevent ear infections.

Sassy is a great dog. When we leave her, she is not kenneled or baby gated. We just leave and she usually goes to the couch to sleep until we get back home. Once we are in the door it is all about her for five minutes. Remember we have 5 dogs at the house, but she still believes life revolves around her. This is fun to watch.

Sassy is meeting someone this coming weekend, so with any luck she will be adopted. But please keep her in mind if you are looking, because she is just the sweetest thing on earth and will make a great family dog. Keep your paws crossed for Sassy and check back this weekend, just in case!

By the way the two dogs are Baxter 07-593 and Sassy – Sassy is the tiny one – Baxter is the HUGE boy! The other picture is Sassy looking over the couch wondering when someone plans to sit down so she can lay her head on their lap to watch TV. I know--a bad habit for the dogs to get into, but our life revolves around these dogs.

I am so proud of Sassy. Last night we had yet another foster dog arrived at the house (yes, that means we have 5 dogs now). Sassy can be a bit moody meeting new dogs; however, last night we put her on a leash and just let her know that everything was going to be fine. This morning Sassy and Baxter are doing great and both are in the computer room sleeping while I type this. We had maybe 4 hours of moodiness and now it is over. She has come such a long ways.

Just take a look at this new picture of Sassy (in the front), Sophee (on the dog bed of course) and Mistee Bubbles behind Sophee, all sleeping! I just love this because this is truly Sassy. She is such a love and wants to love people all the time.

To add to last night's newcomer, we had 13 people at the house to do fondue. Sassy was in heaven with all the touching and petting she was given. Everyone could not believe how well she was doing and how great she handled all the noise. Let me tell you it was LOUD at times and she just went with the flow. There could not be a prouder foster mom and dad in the world.

Wouldn’t you like to give Sassy that forever home she so desperately wants and needs? Please, even if you would just like to meet her, contact placementatragom [dot] org and let us know.

Hey Sassy here – Everyone decided they wanted to eat dinner and I needed some “me” time to tell you all about the things I have learned today. I went to the vet to get my stitches out and I have no sign of cancer. The tumor I had was just full of fibers and now that I am not having any more fur babies, that should not come back. I told my foster mom, my ears still hurt and the vet agreed that they probably do hurt still so we added a new medication to clean them right up.

I told foster mom when we were at the vet, “I have to go potty and now”. She was not listening so when she tried to put me in the car, I told her, “HELLO, I need to potty”, so off we went and boy did I have to go! I jumped into the car as happy as can be. I love my car rides.

Foster mom was going to let me go stay with another foster for a few weeks because we are getting another foster, “Baxter”. Baxter is going to need surgery, but my foster parents decided they can handle five dogs and I am SO happy I can stay while Baxter hangs out too.

Oh yea, here is the best part, tonight I figured out what balls were – you would think I had just won the grand prize or something because everyone was so excited and they thought my pushing this ball around the floor was a lot of fun. As you can see from the pictures, it wore me out, so I had to bring the ball to the couch and take a long nap!

The vet said I am in great shape, so we came home and I got yet another bath, I really don’t like those very much, but I did not have too many problems with it.

So, my question to you is, are you interested in a nice 5 year old? I would make a wonderful addition to your home. I am potty trained, love people and boy am I willing to please! Please contact placementatragom [dot] org so I can meet you!

Sassy!

Wow, has Sassy been doing great. We have stopped the allergy meds because they were making her cranky towards Sophee and now just look at the two of them! Okay, so it is Sophee who goes to sleep with Sassy, but they are back to being friends.

Sassy continues to do well and thrive in her new environment. Everyday she gains more and more confidence. She is eating about 1½ cups of food in the morning and at night. Her incisions look great. We are going to the vet on Friday just for a quick checkup to make sure everything still looks grand. Sassy is ready for adoption and looking for a wonderful home, do you think you might be that home?

Sassy would love to meet you! Please contact placementatragom [dot] org.

Wow, never in my wildest dreams did I think things would be working out this well so far with Sassy. We maybe had 4 hours of “who is who” talking but after that, everything is going great.

We feed Sassy in the kitchen so she does not have to look at the other girls and get worried that someone will take her food. We are right there to keep her bowl still, so she has no problems with people at all. Yesterday during dinner, she told Mistee our Newf, that she was NOT welcome by her food. Today Sassy and Mistee are great friends and are hanging out with each other.

Sassy does not play with toys, but she does want to be loved as much as possible. But she is not pushy about it at all. In fact he just comes over and sits until you do pet her. Last night Sassy slept from 9 to 6 this morning and when we got her up, she was not thrilled about that at all. Sassy is still going out with us on a leash; she does not know her name and does not know Come. I think she would stick around us, but we are not giving her any room for error at this point.

Sassy got a bath first thing this morning and, boy, her hair feels 100 times better. It is still very thin and brittle, but once she starts getting it back I think she will be very pretty. Sassy has the blackest lips I have ever seen and a very big block head. We were told she was a pure Golden and she may be, but with her horrible hair she does not look it.

Sassy seems to be 100% potty trained and lets us know when she wants to go out by going to the door. She has been a wonderful guest. Sassy has a mammary tumor that is non-cancerous and will be taken care of when she gets spayed on Wednesday. She also has an ear hematoma. Honestly I am not sure that her ear will ever be the same. It looks like we are too late to take care of it and the liquid has now calcified. She is on meds for it and it really is not a big deal. We will watch and see. I will continue to get it cleaned up and hopefully looking pretty by next weekend when we attend the Chuck & Don’s event. We will be there around 10 when it starts and stay until 1 or so.

Sassy does not walk on a leash real well, but we will keep practicing and hopefully we will have a good start on that by next week too.

So if you are an app that is looking for one of those dogs that just wants you to love them, I have a great candidate for you! Please contact placementatRAGOM [dot] org so we can meet.

I have sent three new pictures, in one of them you can see how big her head is. The other two are just great looking pictures and you can see just how sweet she really is!
