Roscoe 07-500

Profile

8/27/07: What a sweet puppy!  Roscoe is a great little 14 week old who loves attention, chasing balls and chewing on squeaky toys -- and peanut butter filled Kongs.  Right now, he is a diamond in the rough as he and his siblings were an unwanted litter.  Maybe unwanted to them, but he will make someone a wonderful pup.

More to come....

Roscoe has adapted very well to living with us. As you can see, he and resident dog Lacy have become best of friends and he really wears her out!  This week, we have concentrated on learning puppy manners.  We have worked very hard on the "sit" command. It's easy when there are no distractions,  but he is so exuberant and likes to jump up to show you how much he loves you. He has made so much progress and he loves the attention he gets when he minds his manners and sits. He is just so proud of himself.  We still remind him often, but he is catching on.  We are also working on "stay". It's another one that is so much easier when he doesn't have a lot on his agenda! Another fun command is "fix it". This is for when he gets wrapped around something on our walks. "Fix it" means go left and then back to untangle himself. He is getting quite good at that. He also has caught on to using his own food dish and leaving Lacy's (oh, and leaving the stuff on the counter and table too) and has learned to wait his turn for treats. Puppy Manners 101 is progressing!

And then there is the lake. Oh, how Roscoe loves to swim. At first, he was just a wader as is his foster sister. But, he soon showed her up and became a swimmer - just for fun or to retrieve a ball. He loves the water, the sand, the rocks, the dock, the paddle boat and the speed boat - you name it, he loves it. And, does that short coat dry fast compared to foster sister Lacy's!

Roscoe is still a work in progress as puppies are, but so worth it. He is such a cheerful and fun little guy.

Please email placementatragom [dot] org if you would like to meet this great little guy. You would love him!

This has been a great week for Roscoe!  He has settled in very nicely. He's a darling pup who loves to play, but also settles down nicely for quiet time. He has visited the vet who helped get  rid of all those nasty tics and a few fleas too. He weighed in at 29 pounds, was given a clean bill of health and had his shots.  So far, he has had a few accidents, but it is getting better every day and today, he did not have any (yeah!).  Roscoe is a friendly guy and likes everybody he  meets.  Everyone in the neighborhood loves him. He's eager to play with resident dog, Lacy, and loves all the other dogs that have come to visit him too. A real treat for him is to have kids to play with.  The neighbor kids think he's great and the feeling is mutual. He seems like a smart little guy, and catches on fast.

Roscoe is a Golden Retriever/Lab/Malamute mix, but looks mostly Lab with a few Golden features too. I love his eyes. They are a beautiful very dark brown.

This guy is ready for his forever home. I feel he would fit in to any family, but I think he would be happiest if he had kids and/or another dog that he would be able play with on a regular basis - either in his home or neighborhood.
