Roscoe has adapted very well to living with us. As you can see, he and resident dog Lacy have become best of friends and he really wears her out! This week, we have concentrated on learning puppy manners. We have worked very hard on the "sit" command. It's easy when there are no distractions, but he is so exuberant and likes to jump up to show you how much he loves you. He has made so much progress and he loves the attention he gets when he minds his manners and sits. He is just so proud of himself. We still remind him often, but he is catching on. We are also working on "stay". It's another one that is so much easier when he doesn't have a lot on his agenda! Another fun command is "fix it". This is for when he gets wrapped around something on our walks. "Fix it" means go left and then back to untangle himself. He is getting quite good at that. He also has caught on to using his own food dish and leaving Lacy's (oh, and leaving the stuff on the counter and table too) and has learned to wait his turn for treats. Puppy Manners 101 is progressing!
And then there is the lake. Oh, how Roscoe loves to swim. At first, he was just a wader as is his foster sister. But, he soon showed her up and became a swimmer - just for fun or to retrieve a ball. He loves the water, the sand, the rocks, the dock, the paddle boat and the speed boat - you name it, he loves it. And, does that short coat dry fast compared to foster sister Lacy's!
Roscoe is still a work in progress as puppies are, but so worth it. He is such a cheerful and fun little guy.
