Morgan 07-489

Profile

Please give a big welcome to Morgan. Morgan was found lost and hungry, looking for someone to love him. He's now staying in Iowa, and looking for a forever family. He is a neutered male, no more than 5 years old, who gives lots and lots of kisses.

His coloring is amazing! And his feathering is worth writing home about. He can only get better from here as his malnourishment is corrected. He's fairly well mannered and corrects easily. He is very submissive to the man in the house and the resident dog. He kennels nicely but becomes "stiff" if he's in there very long. He will walk at a heel if he's alone, but not so well if the other dogs are with us. He chases everything with wings and is also very interested in all the deer around the place. He will "fetch" what you throw, just don't expect him to give it back. He's great with the kids and with dogs. He's more interested in the people around him than the food we place in front of him. He's really a nice dog and a joy to foster. He's eager to learn our routines and adapt to the changes in his life. He'll be a wonderful addition to somebody's home. Will it be yours?

Morgan may have a few hip problems. We'll learn more of that as we visit the vet a few times. Right now Morgan walks a little wobbly, like a male comedian in a woman's high heels. He does not seem to be in any pain and has no trouble climbing stairs, jumping onto furniture, chasing chickens (well, he IS a bird dog after all).

Morgan is also very very thin. He is bony even on that beautiful feather-duster tail. He will not eat if our resident dog is within site. He even seems to prefer his food be placed directly on the floor where he can move it around with his nose.

This boy is eager to be loved. He needs a gentle hand and kind words to guide him and teach him that he's worthy of a big meal and warm bed. He's a broken heart ready to be mended. Can you mend him?

Hi! I want to tell you about my hips. I got word from an "ortho specialist" that I do NOT need surgery, and I DO have arthritis. She suggested that I gain weight and build muscle. In the meantime I should see another kind of doctor to check out my nerves. So, I met a woman named Ms. Neur Ologist and she checked me out really well. She kept pushing on my hips and I asked her very politely to stop, because that kinda hurt a little. She introduced me to Mr. Ortho Paedics and he kept moving my hind legs around funny, so I had to ask him to stop also, because I really don't like to be so uncomfortable. They agreed that I walk wobbly and have minor pain when they move my hips and tail around. They do not know why. They don't know if it will ever become a problem for me, or if I will just have arthritic pain and nothing else. They think that there is no real concern because I am so active. But, good news! Twice a day now I get little pieces of bread with a little crunchy thing in the middle. They said that would make me comfortable and reduce any swelling that I might have in my joints. I sure feel good and have extra spring in my step. I'm not so stiff when I get up in the morning, either. Bad news: they want me to be on complete kennel rest for 30 days. I HATE kennel rest; boring boring boring. I can only go out for potty breaks. Sometimes I cheat and walk around the house a little, but if I start playing with my dog-friend then I have to go back in the kennel. I don't complain, I really don't, I just give Foster-Mom a really sad look when I go in. That's about it, that's all we know about my hips. Seriously, my wobbly walk bothers the humans a lot more than it bothers me - I could catch every chicken in this yard if I could get off this leash! (I've caught 3 already).

I'm developing that Golden Smile!

I wish you could all meet Morgan. He's a great dog (regardless of the glowing eyes in my pictures, sorry). He's so eager to please, and loves to be with people. Everyday he amazes me with his talent to conform to my desires. We can't help but love him. He's very attentive to us.

He has never had an accident in our house. He stands in front of the door when he needs to go out. If that doesn't work, then he stands in front of me. If I still don't get the message then he'll whine and put his head on my knee. He sometimes waits so long that I believe he has a bladder the size of Minnesota! He could certainly be home alone if you work fulltime.

Morgan HATES guns. So, while he's a great swimmer and retriever, he is terrified of gunshot. He is a great playmate for a gentle dog, and could live with another dog or as a single dog. If you are a chicken farmer, well, Morgan would not be your first choice in a pet.

His coat is so beautiful and lush, and he's so skinny, that he's been accused of posing as an Afhgan Hound. His personality gives him away as all Golden, though. We've found that he eats better as he spends more time in direct contact with us. He is definitely a people-lover. He learns quickly and is tender-hearted, easily wounded with harsh words. He is looking for true love with a gentle person. He is ready to meet YOU.

Morgan has had a great week! He met several new people and he was an instant hit with the elementary-age kids. One young girl was in a wheelchair and Morgan didn't mind that a bit. He was gentle with everybody and stole one girl's heart.

We seem to have overcome the eating problems. As you can see in the picture, Morgan even carries his food dish around! He's really a fantastic dog. He loves to be with people. He's bouncy and energetic, ready to learn some games. He is also gentle and quiet in the house.

I can't say enough good things about this dog. He's a real lover. If you are ready to meet him, let RAGOM know. He'll steal YOUR heart, also.

Hello friends! My name is Morgan. You can call me Happy, because I'm very happy. The vet called me Healthy. I had a great check-up and got a doggie cookie. My ears were clean. My "sample" was parasite-free. My heart has no icky worms. I'm thin, but I'm eating good food now (a RAGOM friend suggested I eat out of pie plate and I'm eating much better now). I got some big fishoil pills to take for my itchy skin and just a few days worth of Prednisone to help my skin heel, I mean heal. She wasn't sure about my hips, so another doctor will look at my x-rays.

After visiting the vet, we went to the beach! That was so fantastic. I'm a great swimmer. Me and the resident dog get along great and we played hard in the water. I can run fast, too. I have lots of energy.

I would love to find a forever family. My family will definitely need a good fence so I don't run so far that I get lost. I need to be protected from the street, too, because I love to chase cars (they are the only things that move faster than me!). If you teach me to give things to you then I will fetch all day long, and I could probably learn to catch a frisbee. I know that when I walk into the house I have to hit my "off button" and be a calm boy. I am a good boy in the house.

I make fostermom laugh a lot. She tells me that I'm a great dog and somebody is gonna be very happy to take me home. I follow her everywhere so that she doesn't have to worry about me. Unless the kids are around, then I follow them because they are great fun. I follow the cat around sometimes but she doesn't like me. I would like to have a forever parent to follow, somebody to love me forever. Would you love me forever?
