Chet is a 10 month old Golden mix that was surrendered back to RAGOM because his family could no longer keep him. Chet is neutered and is up to date on all of his vaccinations.
We have had Chet for a week now and here is what we know so far. Chet will need a family that can give him consistent exercise and continue his obedience training. He is very smart and responds well when learning new things. Chet may be a Golden mixed with Border Collie or some type of spaniel, plus he is a young boy, so he has lots of
energy to burn off each day. For that reason, he also needs a family with older children. He can be quite rambunctious and would not be a good match for a family with small and/or young children. He also would not be a good dog to sit at home for 10 or so hours a day while his family works. At least for now, while he is young, he really needs to get out and play some during the day. Sometimes, Chet will run around our fenced in yard as fast as he can go and have the other dogs chase him.
At our house, we go on two walks a day pretty much every day. Chet is learning how to walk with a Gentle Leader and he is doing pretty good. He still tries to paw it off once in awhile, but each time we go out, he gets a little better. We have also been throwing a tennis ball for Chet. When he is alone he will run and bring the ball back to us so we can throw it again, but if our other two dogs are out, he would rather chase them while they are fetching the ball. He really enjoys chasing the ball, especially when it bounces.
Chet loves attention and follows me around the house wherever I go. You could call him a "velcro" dog for sure. He is always interested in what I am doing and loves to see what is going on.
Chet would be a great dog for someone that runs or would like to try agility. He is very fast and can be very quick in his movements while running. We will have to see how he likes catching a Frisbee. We will send in more as we get to know Chet better. I will try and get some better pictures of him. He loves to move around, so it was tough to get him to stand still for very long.
