Hello,

We adopted Miss Maddie (Madalyn) in the late summer of 2007 from RAGOM. My husband, Justin, and I hadn't even been married a year but just couldn't live without a dog in our home any longer! We had been watching RAGOM's website for a few weeks before Maddie showed up and my husband called me and said "I found the one!" Unfortunately, we had to wait to meet her, as she and her litter mates had tested positive for parvo. But at 4 months old, she was finally able to come home with us.

Along the years, we moved 3 times, had two babies (now 9 and 6), and welcomed a puppy into our home late 2018. Maddie was there with us through all of it. She loved us, was an instant companion to our kids, and was the most loyal and gentle pup a family could have asked for. We were so blessed to have her for almost 13 years.

Maddie celebrated her 13th birthday this past weekend. Even though she was my "old lady," she still had a playful side to her that would come out anytime anyone was willing to throw a ball for her! She was always so healthy and everyone was impressed with how well she was doing, despite her age.

Sunday evening, our daughter noticed Maddie wasn't acting like herself. She didn't want to walk, move, or eat and just seemed uncomfortable. I slept downstairs with her and got up to lay on the floor with her in the middle of the night a few times to comfort her and tell her what a good girl she was.

Monday morning, we brought her to the vet and they confirmed what we had thought - her time had come to cross the rainbow bridge. We stayed with Maddie and comforted her, as she had done for us so many times, while she passed on and plan to bring her ashes home when they are ready.

Our family wants to thank you for trusting us so many years ago and giving us the opportunity to have so many great years with our Maddie girl. She was a true blessing to our family. It still hurts that she is gone, but we are so thankful for the amazing love she added to our lives.

Many Blessings,

The M Family

Justin, Crystal, Claire and Calvin
