Buddy CB 07-425

Profile

I had the honor of temp fostering this beautiful, sweet guy for one night. It was initially thought he was 6, but I was convinced he was younger. After reading all of his paperwork, he is actually 4 years old!  That made more sense as he is too energetic for a 6 year old and does not have one gray hair on him!  So let's start with the facts - Buddy is beautiful, smart, playful, soft, expressive and has the whitest, most beautiful teeth! He has very long legs and will jump on you and wrap his legs around your waist,--wow, what a sweetie.  He is easy going and accepting and got along with all three of my GR's.  We attempted to walk, but he is really strong and we did not make it very far.  He definitely could use practice on a leash.  I think it was just because he wanted to sniff and explore and was unfamiliar with the area, a little nervousness.  He is 72 pounds, but his notes said he does not eat a lot. I do think he is kind of thin.  He LOVES my two teenagers.  He did have 2 college age boys in his last home and they probably remind him of them.  He is currently sitting on my lap as I try to type this--he is so, so affectionate.  Thank you, RAGOM, for sharing this beauty with me, another lucky dog that will find a wonderful FOREVER home through our organization.  He deserves to finally find a special forever family that will commit to making him part of their family... forever.

One teenager, down for the count!

I thought I would tell you that I got my vet visit out of the way this weekend and I did not need any shots or anything! I wondered why they took me anyways since I had all my shots updated at the kennel last month. I weighed 70.5 lbs and the vet tech told me that my weight was perfect. I have finally started to get comfortable in my foster home and am even enjoying the yard again. It was scary going anywhere without someone next to me this last week because I had no idea what was going to happen. This new house is really comfortable and they don’t seem to expect a lot. I met Jack, a great dog next door. I love seeing him in the yard and I whine when he goes back in the house but I get to play with Skoey (resident dog) anytime I want.

Since I came here last week I have been a very good boy. I haven’t begged and I let everyone eat in peace. Loyalty is one of my best traits, and I think they know that already. I have tried really hard to show them my loyalty by following them everywhere. They must enjoy it, as they pet me constantly, call me a good boy all the time, and give me lots of treats all day!

I look forward to seeing my new forever home!

I arrived at my new foster home July 4th after spending days in a boarding kennel. Thank God I’m out of there! I spent my whole first day wandering around the fantastic yard I share with the resident dog. We get along great! My foster family discovered I am a neutered 4-year-old pure Golden and I have shown no aggression yet. The resident dog shares his toys with me and so I share the toys with him, too. I went on my first walk today and John was real happy with me! I impressed John because I walked great with the leash and I know heel! Can you believe it?!?!?! They are thrilled that I know heel! The neighbor’s black lab ran up to me during the walk and I just stood there oblivious to him. You can tell from pictures that I am a great looking boy and just a big lover.

I know many commands and have been trained fully. I simply need a retrain since I was boarded with no attention recently but my foster family is working on that and I must be listening so far because I’ve been getting lots of pets. Last night the fireworks scared me but I was fine indoors with the family. There was a thunderstorm too but I did fine because the family kept telling me I was being a good boy. I can be scared of loud noises but I’m not shy at all. I know I’ll be fine once I feel comfortable again.

I haven’t had an accident in the house yet, and that is saying quite a bit since I hadn’t been outside in 12 hours! After spending lots of time in the yard yesterday, I was scared to go out again. They think I’m paranoid I’ll be left outside again due to the boarding kennel. I preferred to sit with the family indoors all day yesterday and did not want to go back outside; however, later today I was more comfortable outside. I still feel a bit needy that I want someone around me while I’m out there….but they keep telling me that I’m not going to be left anywhere so I need to keep thinking that.

I was checked into a Humane Society on June 26th when my original family surrendered me due to allergic reactions from a baby. I lived with teenage boys and I love kids. During my stay at the Humane Society I was updated with all my shots and I’m already micro chipped.

I’m going to the vet tomorrow night and will get another update soon after.

I’ll let you know what my perfect home will be but at this point my foster family really doesn’t see any home having any issues with a loving and sweet dog as myself because I adapt well.

Please consider me for your home, as I am looking forward to spending eternity with my NEW FOREVER HOME!!!!
