Billy 07-414

Profile

Let me have the pleasure of introducing you to Billy.  He is 3 years old,  83lbs, neutered, and UTD on all shots.  He was surrendered by his family due to his history of seizures.  Billy did not start to have seizures until the age of 2.  He started out having them once a month , but over time they have become more severe and  frequent.  Now he will have them every 2 weeks, and typically he will have 8-10 seizures on that day.  They are very hard on him, and will wipe him out for a day or two.  Billy's owner thought it would be best to turn him over to RAGOM so he could get the best treatment possible.  They were very sad to let him go.

Yesterday we got some good news on some blood work that we had done. It showed his thyroid level is low. This could be the cause of the seizures.  He is now taking a medication for his thyroid along with his seizure med.  We are keeping our fingers crossed that this will help this guy out.  He needs to go back in 6 weeks to follow up on some more blood work.  The good news is that for the week that we have had him, he has not had any seizures.

What I can tell you about his personality is that is loves to hang out with the  family and our dogs.  Does not like to be alone, always wants to hang out with the pack.  He does have two minor problems that we are working on with him... Billy cannot resist walking by any yummy smelling food that may be up on the countertops.  He always has to stop and have a little taste of what is up there.  I have been told that his seizure med can make his tummy very hungry, so what is a boy to do?  Oh, and the garbage smells real yummy too!!!

He is very affectionate and has the true Golden personality.  He loves to go for walks and enjoys a good dip in the lake.  He has freedom to roam the house and usually sleeps in one of the bedrooms at night.  So far he has not had any accidents. YEAH!!!! Billy is really a sweet boy, we just love him.
