Max 07-371

Profile

6/23/07: Meet Max.  He is a beautiful 6 year old male AKC Golden Retriever.  We just got back from his first vet visit today.  Max was very cooperative and easygoing.  He weighs 80 lbs which is a good weight for his size.  He is now UTD on all his shots and will be starting Heartguard and Frontline after his test results come back negative.  He is scheduled to be neutered July 2nd.

Max loves everyone, including other dogs.  He loves being an "inside" dog and follows us everywhere.  He loves to play and knows how to catch a ball or Frisbee in the air.  He is perfectly housetrained with no accidents at all.  He must have had some basic obedience training because he knows how to sit, stay, and come when called.  He loves to ride in the car and he loves water.  He had a much needed bath and brushing this week and took it like a pro.  Max is a wonderful dog and we love having him around.  More to come on this special guy after his next vet appointment.

Max has been with us for 10 days now and we love him more every day.  He's just a big lovable teddy bear.  He has quite a personality.  Somewhat independent, where he doesn't have to follow us every where we go.  He also likes to sleep alone on the main level near the front door.  He prefers the wood floor over a dog bed or blanket.  He likes his crate once in awhile and we keep it open for him.  He has no interest in getting up on the furniture (which is allowed).  He has free run of our house and we trust him completely.  Max is a very athletic boy and takes his game of fetch very seriously.  In a race for the tennis ball with his foster sister, he wins every time.  Morgan doesn't try as hard or maybe she just knows he's faster than she is.  Max's ideal home would have a nice yard for him to run in, lots of people for him to love, and possibly another dog, since he loves the company of his foster sister.  I don't think he would need a fence because he doesn't seem to wander too far away and always comes when called.  If you would like to meet Max, please send an e-mail to [dot] [dot] /ym/Compose?To=placementatragom [dot] org" target="_blank">placementatragom [dot] org.
