Well, I have had Lady since Sunday evening. She arrived very smelly and full of ticks so she got a bath as soon as I got her home and she loved it! This sweet dog was tethered outside for at least a year due to the poor health of her elderly owner. A neighbor who lived 10 miles away would check on her a few times a week. I am so happy to be a part of giving this 8 year old Golden a new life.
This is really a wonderful sweet dog that loves people ,kids and babies. I have grandkids 3 and 6 months and she was great with both of them.
She has had VERY strong smelling urine and yesterday it started to get bloody with clots so was glad her vet appt was this morning. The vet initially was concerned about stones in her bladder but X-rays confirmed she did not have them so she is being treated with antibiotics for a bladder infection. I will bring another urine sample in Monday to make sure it’s working. Her blood word came back good and was also negative for heartworm and I gave her the first dose of Heartland this evening. Her eye lids are turned in so her eyes are irritated .Especially the right eye so got some oint for that too. It does not appear she is spayed so will set that up once her bladder is cleared up. I’m waiting on the stool sample.
She is 74 lbs but should drop some pounds through just some regular exercise. Her muscle tone has already improved since Sunday and was able to get in the van by herself today. She pulls on the regular leash but walks very nice with the gentle leader. She sleeps in the laundry room and does very well and has not had an overnight accident since the second night. Pretty good I would say with a full blown bladder infection! I take her out often and she sue seems to be getting the idea of going potty outside.
She has nibbled at dog food until tonight. I got some good Sr. food at the vet today and it seemed to taste pretty good.
