Ty 07-344

Profile

Meet Ty.  He's a gorgeous, dark red 5-year-old neutered male.  He was surrendered to RAGOM with his brother Sam.  We picked him up from boarding yesterday. He was the perfect passenger on the car ride home and I have to say he's been a terrific houseguest and companion since.  A real pleasure to have around.  He loves to play catch with a tennis ball.  He loves to be petted and go for walks.  He is a total Velcro dog and rarely leaves our side.  He must have had some basic obedience training because he knows what "no" means.  He also comes when called, can sit, and walks fairly well on a leash.  We're working on that--we haven't tried the Gentle Leader yet.  He's the only dog at our house but we've introduced him to two other dogs.  He sniffs them and then mostly ignores them, much to their disappointment.  I'll let you know more about this great dog after his vet appointment.

Ty just had his vet visit and I'm happy to report he is a very healthy 60-lb boy. I'm told he's at a good weight for his size. He is UTD on all his shots and has just started Heartguard and Frontline. He also had a much needed bath and brushing this week and took it like a pro. Ty is a very cooperative boy. Here are a few things we've discovered this first week with Ty. He loves water, he loves being brushed, and he wants to be with us all the time. He hasn't had a single accident in the house but he only wants to go outside if someone goes with him. The reason could be he was an outside dog previously and he doesn't want to be stuck outside without his people. Ty doesn't care for his crate and I believe being in boarding for a couple of weeks may be the reason for that. We left him alone for the first time yesterday for about three hours. I was sure he'd do fine with free rein of the house and he proved me right. Good boy, Ty! I don't know how he is with small children or cats since he hasn't been exposed to either one. He loves our 8-year-old daughter and has fit right in with our family. More to come on this special guy.
