Rosalita 07-318

Rosalita was found as a stray and turned over to RAGOM by the local pound.  We call her Rosie because Rosalita is a big name for such a little girl. She is about 6 months old and very skinny so she may have been out on her own for a while.  She's a good eater but also very energetic so she probably burns it all off.  She goes right into her crate at night and sleeps through the night without a peep. No accidents in the kennel but she has had a few in the house so we are trying to keep her on a regular schedule of potty breaks.  I don't think she has had any training at all so she is a diamond in the rough. She seems to be getting the idea that counter surfing won't work because there is never anything there, jumping on people is not acceptable and that she is not allowed on the furniture. Well, we're working on those things anyway. When she first came she didn't seem to know what toys were for but she is catching on to that and now chews on bones and plays with stuffed toys. She will chase a ball but doesn't bring it back yet. She loves Sunny and Riley but they have had enough puppy antics for a while and are not interested in playing with her.  She loves 18 month old grandson but does jump up and knock him over and loves to lick him so Drew isn't crazy about her. She has been microchipped and all her shots are updated. She is scheduled for her spay on May 17 because that was the first opening.  She enjoys car rides and just lays down or looks out the window.  Rosie is very pretty with dark red wavy coat and big brown eyes.

It has been a big week in Rosies life. She has come from doggie jail to starting on her trail a RAGOM Golden.

think Rosie has beautiful feathering to her. On her hind legs, we like to call her feathering, 'bell bottoms.' When inside the house, she's pretty low key and calm. At our house, we do let the dogs up on the couch with us. When watching a movie, she will curl up right next to you waiting for a belly rub. Once outside, she's cruising around the whole yard.
For Rosie's future home:

- A physical or invisible fence. She has a prey drive when outside, so some kind of fencing is needed. The home she lived in for 6 years, she was trained to an invisible fence.

- It would be best if Rosie didn't live with any cats. We have 2 cats at our house, about 30% of the time she chases the cats around the house. I don't think she would harm a cat but one of the cats just doesn't think it's fun being stalked and chased.
Rosie has had a couple of applicants interested in her but both parties decided it wasn't the best match for her. We get a kick out of Rosie and call her a goofy girl. When she get's super pumped  to see you when you get home or getting ready for a car ride, it's pretty darn cute how she dances with her front feet.

Rosie has a keen sense of smell. A week ago, I noticed Rosie frantically running and digging around a tree. She definitely was looking for something and did that for 2 days. The 2nd night I heard a commotion outside. I got the flashlight out and noticed this little animal and the dogs trying to chase it down. The good news, Rosie didn't catch it. Resident dog Ollie was the one that grabbed a hold of it, ran around the yard and wouldn't drop it. We think the little animal was a vole. I am guessing that's what Rosie was smelling in our yard.

Finally able to catch Rosie's cute smile on camera!

Did I mention Rosie has no bad habits in the house? I only caught her once with her 2 front paws on the counter. She doesn't go in the garbage or chew on items she shouldn't. She only barks if she hears a foreign noise, like the doorbell. If she wants attention, she'll nudge you with her nose, or she might paw at you.

Rosie is easy going to have around the house. She now has total free roam with the other 2 dogs when at work. When at home, she will stand by the back door or I even hear the little bells hanging from the knob, when she wants me to know she needs to go potty. When we are all hanging outside, she loves to hear and see nature beyond the chain link fence, as she will go up and down the fence perimeter.
An invisible fence (was previously trained) or a physical fence is a must.

Rosie on the left, loves going on walks

When Rosie sees us grabbing the leashes whether for a walk or car ride, she gets super excited. She has the biggest smile on her face and starts doing a tap dance with her front 2 paws. When going for walks, an Easy Walk Harness is necessary. If you just have her on the flat collar, she will pull until she starts coughing. Rosie does love car rides. If the front passenger seat is open she usually finds her way to the seat.

Rosie and I went to a Meet and Greet a few weeks ago. What I learned about Rosie, with new dogs, she likes to have her space. If a playful dog would get too much in her face, she would snap at them. She definitely is more playful with the humans than with the dogs. I think she does so well with my 2 dogs, is because they know she isn't playful with them, so they tend to ignore her and play with each other. I have taken Rosie and my 2 dogs to doggy day care. She is separated into a different playgroup than Ollie and Mollie because she is a bit smaller. I am told that she is shy at first but gets along great with the other dogs. If you are looking for a playmate for you dog, Rosie isn't your gal. She would do best with a calmer dog.

I'm still up in the air if Rosie could be an only dog. Rosie has a quirk where she can be shy and skittish, and think having another dog/dogs around would help at times when she is like that. When I take my 2 dogs out to the dog park, she has to be left behind as foster dogs aren't allowed there. I can hear her start scratching at the front door. When I leave for work, she doesn't scratch at the door as she has the company of the other dogs. She would do best if the owner is home most of the time, if she were to be an only dog.

Rosie has a great smile. Every time I get out my camera or even use my phone to capture the smile, she will shy away and hang her head low. She has been with us for over a month now and can see her full personality. She now will look through the toy box and grab a tennis ball or an animal toy. Her favorite place is the bed! When going to bed, she jumps up and lays next to you. When she knows your awake, she will sometimes come closer and snuggle up on you for belly rubs, which are her favorite. Rosie does like to give kisses on the face to the humans. The SO noted that she hasn't lived with the younger kids but loves them.

Miss Rosie is a returning RAGOM dog, she was adopted at the young age of 6 months. Her family took well care of her and loved her dearly and it was a change in living situation that they thought it was best to surrender her. Rosalita is her full name but responds to Rosie.

When she first came to my house, she ran all over the house exploring with a wagging tail. I took her outside to meet my two dogs. I think their energy was too much for her, so she shyed into the corner. She's been with us for over a week now, and she has become more comforable in her surroundings.

Rosie has been to the vet for her wellness check. She is healthy and weighs in at 42lbs. During the entire time at the vet she was wagging her tail. The doctor even noticed that she was a happy little girl!

She gets along with dogs great. In the first few days, she seemed overwhelmed by my dogs energy and size, as they would get in her face and she snapped at them twice. Which is quite understandable, going from living with a Jack Russell to now living with 2 larger dogs. I think Rosie is now getting more used to them because I saw Mollie and Rosie do some play bows to each other. I think it would be best if Rosie had another dog companion in her forever home. For the most part Rosie lives in peace with the 2 cats here, if anything she will stalk one of the cats.

Rosie's forever home will need a fenced in yard. The bigger the yard, the better. The SO wrote that she would run laps around the property all day. The SO had moved to a smaller yard, and knew she probably wouldn't be able to do what she loves to do- self exercising.

When we are outside, she isn't interested in playing fetch but will sometimes run around the fence perimeter.

When you say her name, her tail starts wagging, every time. Most of the time she's calm. When I come home from work, is when she gets all excited and wiggles. But the good thing is, she doesn't jump up on you. Her favorite spot to sleep in on the bed. Rosie loves belly rubs. She has no resource guarding. I would say she is house trained. We did let her have free roam when gone for 8 hours, but there were a couple of pooping accidents that happened. At this moment we are putting her in the kennel when we are gone. But no accidents when we are home.

Rosie will be at the Chuck and Don's in Roseville this Saturday from 11a-12p.
