Ace is a wonderful little boy and the past couple of days he's really shined! Yesterday we went to the vet, and Ace was a wonderful patient. In fact when the vet went out of the room, he waited for her by the door! He had lots of shots and pokes yesterday, but now he's up to date on everything! He's already neutered so he'll just have one last trip to the vet to get his microchip and then he'll be set!
Ace has a couple of behaviors which make me suspect he might have been in a bad situation as a pup. He's a little head shy, so if you lift up your hand fast, he drops to the ground. He also is a little uncomfortable with big (sudden) noises, but he's fairly brave (he was so brave with the vacuum..!) and does fine with the lawn mower, so I think he just needs a little exposure and he'll learn these noises aren't scary. Since Ace first got here, he's been trying really hard to be affectionate, but not sure how, or if he should. The past couple of days Ace has been breaking ground, and has learned all about snuggling! Last night we were all laying in bed and Ace snuggled up to Jerad and laid with him. Then this morning, Kobee and Ace snuggled up with me for a mid-morning snooze! Not only does he snuggle now, but there have been kisses (face and hands!)....and Ace has started coming up to me while I'm in a chair reading and snuggling up against me with his head!
As if that isn't enough...Ace astonished me this morning by walking right into his crate and laying down in it! So all day, whenever I've been in the office, Ace goes into his crate and naps. Also, Ace has really started playing the past couple of days. He's played with children, and dogs. He has even started picking up toys and running around with them....so I'm certain that "fetch" isn't too far away! He rides really well in cars, and is good on walks (but could use some good training classes to perfect his technique!)
Ace is a wonderful and sweet little boy. He likes walks and likes playing outside (if you're out with him), but isn't hyper in the house, and has gradually starting following me around. When he first got here he'd follow from a distance. If I went in a room, he'd lay in the hallway and wait for me. Now Ace knows he's safe, and he lays right beside me. Ace would love a family that's as excited to show him the world, as he is to learn about the world. A family that will help him develop his soft and snuggly side, but will also show him the pleasures of a walk around a lake....or a jog around the block. Although he's discovered the joy of some toys...he'd love a family that will introduce him to new and exciting toys...people, and dogs! Ace is a sweet little boy who is ready to have a family of his own!
