Shanna’s puppies are doing well - there are 6 girls and 4 boys.  We lost the 5th boy during delivery.  These pups do not have names yet, but very soon they will.  The puppies weighed in at .75 to 1 pound.

Toes 07-277 is also pictured here with Shanna and her puppies because she is one of them now and she weighs 1.6 pounds.

These puppies will be ready to go home around June 24th – if you are interested in meeting them please email placementatragom [dot] org.  I will start individual updates at the end of May, but if you would like to talk about them, we can do that!

Spencer made an appearance at the Dog Days of Summer event in Burnsville yesterday. What a handsome, squooshy-faced boy he's turning into.

His new mom reports that Spencer's latest checkup revealed little evidence of a heart murmur. The vet thinks the murmur may be healing up as he grows!  Yay, Spencer!

Spencer is doing great and is acting like the typical 8 week old puppy.  Play, Play, Play and then sleep.  His sleeping pattern seems to be a little better these past couple of days.  He is not doing nearly as much whining and then moving and lying down and starting the whole process over several times before finding his spot.

Night time he is sleeping from 9:30 to 4 and then back in bed until 6:30.  I am the one who wakes up at 4, so I figure I better let him out, too.  Spencer sleeps in the human bed but he also will sleep on the floor with the big girls.  Since I am a light sleeper I can hear if he moves around, but usually he will just find a spot and crash for the night.

Spencer continues to improve on potty training and will usually have one accident every couple of days if we are not watching him when he wakes from his nap. Other than that he has yet to poop in the house - he is very regular and always makes it outside.

If you are interested in this very special RAGOM pup, please let [dot] [dot] /ym/Compose?To=PlacementatRAGOM [dot] org" target="_blank">PlacementatRAGOM [dot] org know - he really does want to find a home to call his own.

Hello everyone, Mistee Bubbles the Newf here.  Spencer is sound asleep right now and mom and dad are talking about him so I thought that Sophee Bear and I could fill you in on how Spencer’s ultra sound went today.

First, Spencer was a very good boy and did not move, so the vet got a really good look at his heart and how it was working.  Spencer currently has a level 2 heart murmur.  What this means is his heart has to work a little harder than everyone else’s, but he is in good condition and a wonderful pup.

But what does this mean in the future for little Spence?  It means that Spencer could get better and his heart murmur could go down to a level one when he gets bigger and grows into his body, or it could stay the same, or worst case scenario, it gets worse.  How much worse, who knows?  But we have a favorite foster whose name is Emma and she had a level 2 heart murmur and now it is a level 5.  She is almost 2 and doing very well.  It just means he will have to be watched and played with appropriately.

So as Spencer grows up, what does he need from his family (a family like Sophee Bear and I have)?  We have a mom and dad that try to get us to behave, brought us to training – I know half the time you would never know we have both completed dog 2 - but most importantly, a family that will not overwork and stress his heart.

It's unfortunate that Spence was born with this defect, but we know that he can live a GReat life in the right home.  Spencer had a great family that was planning to adopt him, but they want a dog that can accompany the dad on hunting trips and Spencer will not be able to do that.  As a breed, Goldens are great for hunting, jogging, therapy work and many other special activities; but each Golden is different and that is why RAGOM works so hard to make the right match for both the dog and the adoptive home.  Spencer needs a family that will provide him with only a moderate level of exercise -- he will not be a running partner and he can't handle hours of roughhousing or extended periods of heavy exertion.  Since he is a puppy and can be full of puppy mischief, he will also need a family that can come up with creative ways to keep him stimulated in spite of any physical limitations.

Anyhow – Spencer is hoping someone will come forward and express interest in a little guy with a few heart issues.  He is a great boy, 95% potty trained at 8 weeks, loves people (a little too much in my eyes) and has a wonderful personality.

If you are interested, please email Placementatragom [dot] org and Mistee and I will give you the once over before we let mom talk to you!

This update on my little boy Spencer is very hard.  We found a wonderful family for him that wanted to make him a great hunter.  Unfortunately on Thursday at our vet appointment we found out that Spencer has a grade 2 or 3 heart murmur.  This is not a good sign.  Spencer will not be a hunter and so now we are not sure what his status is.  RAGOM feels that Spencer is no longer able to go to this family because of their desire to train him for hunting.  On Thursday at 2:30 we have an appointment to get an ultra sound done on his heart to see what is really going on.  If that is inconclusive we will than head to the U of M.  But in the mean time, we are just holding out and praying that everything will be okay and we are worrying for nothing.

This past week we noticed a huge change in Spencer, he would only play for 5 minutes and than sleep for over an hour to recharge.  He is such a tired boy now, but we still love him very much and promised we would take care of him as long as it takes.

Spencer weighed in at 9.12 pounds, so that is good he is still growing and thriving, now we just need to make sure his heart will be okay.  Watch for more updates this week.

Spencer the Spitfire has been renamed to Buster I believe.  He met his forever family last week and we are told this little boy will be a hunting dog.  Knowing Buster, it is a good thing that he will have a job to do.  Becky and Chuck are so excited about starting Busters training.  I am not so sure, but as long as they love him no matter what, I am all for it!

Buster will be heading to his home around 20th of June – Get ready Becky and Chuck, Buster is more than ready to learn!!!

Spencer – who is looking for the perfect family and hopes he will be meeting them this weekend, so wish him luck!  Spencer turns 4 weeks tomorrow!  Can you believe it?  I can’t, these guys are great puppies and now they are working on potty training.  We built them a little puppy ramp so they can get out the door and on to the deck.  It is so fun!!!

If the puppies can eat outside they have their meals in the great outdoors and than like clock work, everyone potties!  Yep it’s true; we stay outside until every one finish their business, than we bring them in so we can hose down the area.  Once that is done if they are still playing we will bring them back out to play for a while.  This is morning two, of a clean pen when we got up in the morning!  I just love that!  Lots of little pee spots but that is so easy to clean up while they are eating, no piles to clean is awesome!  These guys are the best pups around.

Okay enough of the bragging – we have so much to cover with these little guys.  Spencer went to the vet and weighed in at 4 pounds even.  Dr. L. thought he was doing great!  He got another dose of de-wormer and won’t be seen now until she is 7 weeks to get micro chipped and given her first set of shots.

Spencer would like to give a great big thank you to her sponsor Lynn Arnold.  Thank you so much for caring about RAGOM and their dogs.  We could not do this without you and your support

Spencer is still available at this time but we know that will change in just a matter of days.  Spencer is the most vocal of the boys and he loves to explore when outside on the deck.  He is such a lovely little boy!

Spencer will continue on the good food and continue to grow.  Spencer and all the pups will be heading to the vet on Friday to get check out again and make sure we do not have any more nasty worms.

Spencer would like to thank everyone for thinking about him while he is looking for his family.

Spencer is doing great and is growing by leaps and bounds.  We went to the vet yesterday and he now weighs 1.58 pounds which is the largest of all of Shanna’s puppies and closing in on Bootsy who is two weeks older!  He received his first dose of de-wormer and the vet said his heart and lungs sound great and he has no signs of a heart murmur.  Yea for Spencer!

Spencer is doing wonderful with bottle feeding and he also loves to try and get milk from mom.  When it happens we are very happy, but when the puppies are crying and trying to get milk we know we have to help.

Spencer will go back to the vet in a few weeks to get another dose of de-wormer and than he won’t go back until he is 7 weeks for shots and micro chipping.

Spencer (boy pup) was the third born of 11 pups.  He made his way into this world during his car ride from a breeder in MO to his foster home in Apple Valley, MN.  Spencer was born on 4/28 at 5:51 in the early evening.  He will always have a Black collar on when we take pictures.

Spencer was born at just under one pound.  One week later he is gaining nicely and now he is the largest puppy at 1.5 pounds.  Spencer does not mind the formula so he should continue gaining weight even though mom can not feed him as much as he would like to eat.

Thanks for checking on Spencer – he will be ready at the end of June for adoption.

Shanna pups are doing great – I just have one picture of where they all go when we have to bring Shanna out – as you can see this won’t last much longer – they are already our growing one basket!  Everyone weighs over 1 pound now which is great news.  Now we just have to keep things going in the right direction.
