Kiara 07-308

Profile

Kiara # 07-308 and her sister Tiara # 07-307 arrived at my house on Wednesday evening.  Both are pretty shy little girls when it comes to people, Kiara more so then her sister.  Both are happy, energetic pups, who love toys, playing with the big resident dogs, and treats.  The "Girls" came up of Iowa and both have had their rabies shots, a set of puppy shots, and have been already spay.  Their booster shots are due May 25th - 30th, and I'll be taking them in next week to have their sutures removed.  Kiara is a light tan in color with a little white blaze on her forehead and nose, with white tips on her toes, Tiara is a solid light buff.  Both girls have beautiful black lined eyes (I am jealous!).  Over the course of the next few days, we'll be working on sitting for treats, potty training, and over coming their shyness.  If you would like to meet either one of this sweet girls, please contact placementatragom [dot] org

Star's final update, from her adoptive family!

I've been anxious to give you an update on how Star is doing.  She is getting along great with our golden, Asia.  They are spending more and more time together.  Asia seems very willing to share her toys, her blanket, and even her bed.  All she asks is that I pet her more than usual for assurance.  It is clear that Star looks to Asia to find out the plan.  If Asia goes outside, Star is right there.  If Asia changes location in the house, Star is right behind her.  Sometimes they'll sit side by side, but many times Star likes to face Asia, paws to paws.  Asia is assuming the role of big sister and is teaching Star some of her famous antics - like eating just the inside of a shoe, and pulling out the stuffing and squeaker from a stuffed toy.  Fortunately, she seems to prefer dog toys to human ones.  They'll engage in active play several times a day, usually at Star's request.  She is very calm otherwise, though, and doesn't whine or bark at anything.  She's very alert outside and it's somewhat hard to get her to concentrate on doing her business with all the birds, other dogs, and different smells in the neighborhood.  She likes to sit on the hill in our backyard and just take it all in.  She loves to lay and roll in the grass.  She went to the Vet on Friday and he said she looks good.  We're working hard on going potty outside, hoping that treats will be the added incentive.  She sits on command and is starting to understand her name and the word "out".   We are so pleased to have Star with us and she seems to be more trusting and affectionate every day.

Kiara has moved to her new foster home and she is attracting quite a bit of attention!  She was a big hit at the Miracle Mile RAGOM event, and she is getting more acclimated to home life.  Kiara is a very sweet little dog, but she is shy.  She really needs a confident resident dog to learn from.  She tends to come out of her shell more when there is another dog around, and she looks to them to know how to react to certain situations.  Kiara is scheduled to meet a prospective family this week, so let's keep our fingers (and paws) crossed!

Kiara is all worn out after her busy social schedule this weekend!
