Jake here!  I am an 18 month old male purebred golden retriever.  I relocated to Minnesota last night with the Missouri crew.  I was very excited to finally arrive at the Golden Valley Humane Society where I met my new foster mom and had lots of people dote on me.  Everyone who encountered me loved me as I am a very happy boy - I wagged my tail and gave kisses through my kennel.

I had the "once over" by the vet and vet techs.  They gave me lots of shots and pills in squirt cheese...I ate it right up!  I seem to be healthy but have to go in for a formal check up with my personal veterinarian.  I need to be neutered and micro chipped.  I think I have ear infections but the vet needs to look at my ears to confirm.

I met my new foster brother Zack without incident.  It only took a few hours and we are best buddies now!  Zack and I play rough outside.  I really enjoy following Zack around the house and yard.

This thing they call the "golden life" is new to me.  I'm still very scared of new things - like doors, dog beds, stairs etc.  My foster mom has to prop the back door open and step away before I feel safe to enter the house.  She also coaxed me up these stairs and I did well going up but I'm very scared to go back down....20 minutes later foster mom picked me up and carried me down.  I haven't been up there since.  I finally figured out that I can sleep on the dog bed...I slept there last night next to my foster mom.  I did whine a little bit because I was scared of my new surroundings but then settled down for the night.  I haven't had any potty accidents in the house - probably because I am so used to going outside.

They tell me that this is a temporary home until I can find my forever home. So if I had to describe my ideal forever family I would say that they would be a patient family that is willing to let me earn their trust. Of course they have to be very kind and loving.  I would like another dog that can show me how to be a dog in the "golden world" as I'm not so sure I would know how to do that without some canine guidance. Other than that I'm very easy going and friendly.  My foster mom says that in a few weeks I should be a "normal" golden retriever- what ever that means!!?! TTFN!
