Mae (Fay Fay 07-230)

Profile

Sponsored by: Sara Dobyns 4/30/07: Fay, 11 other dogs plus cats, goats and a horse, were rescued after their owner died. All the animals were kept in small crates or on short tie-outs without much human interaction.  Fay is a little thin and a little shy with men. Sharp or booming sounds make her nervous; she doesn't care for the un-muffled motorcycle or the engine brake on an 18-wheeler. She has been lonely all her life and welcomes attention. She is so happy when someone comes to visit her -- and anyone who comes to visit is there to see her, she thinks. Daily walks are enjoyable for her and as each day passes she is more willing to play with the resident dog.She has a silky coat that seems to sparkle in the sunlight. She also has freckles. She is up-to-date with her shots and is the picture of health. Looking at Fay's teeth the vet says that she is not more than two years of age. She will be going back to be spayed this Friday. It's obvious that she's never been allowed to play in the water, something that she is learning to really enjoy. She probably hasn't ever had a toy to play with, either. She's begun to carry one or two around upon occasion. She has mastered stairs, something that was obviously an entirely new experience for her. She sleeps in a crate at night and often goes to her crate during the day for a nap.Companionship, some obedience training and liberal doses of love and this will be one very special and rewarding dog.

How could things get better? Fay has found a "forever home", that's how! See how content she looks? Fay went to a great family. Jean and John say they will spoil her rotten. She went to the vet yesterday and got an ice cream cone for being so good. She is very happy in her forever home on the lake. Our thanks to Sara her sponsor for helping make this all possible!

Fay continues to settle in nicely. At her last visit to the veternarian she had gained several (needed) pounds. It could be that she is less nervous when eating or, just possibly, it could be those extra dog treats she earns for doing the right things ... or for just being Fay. She has to sit to get one, however. A dog has to do at least that minimum to get a treat. And Fay has a sponsor! She's mighty happy about it, too. She's getting used to having a pretty good life -- and now a sponsor, too! How does it get any better? Well, a "forever home" would be nice. But she's also working on that!

Fay has returned from her weekend away -- the chemistry of the placement just wasn't right. She has picked up where she left off without a hitch. Our resident dog missed her and they romped until they dropped. A good night's sleep was had by all.Fay has never had the "Golden Life" and now she's finding that she really likes it. Every day she blossoms a little more and it's exciting to see. There's the leisurely walk around the yard followed by the little nap in the sunbeam. It's the excited and exuberant wrestling match with the resident dog. Sneaking up on the toy box and choosing the squeaky-toy-of-the-day. She's putting on a few pounds and looks better every day. There is just one thing missing -- a permanent home.
