Kalli (Kaya 07-160)

Profile

Sponsored by: Steven and Darcy R. Introducing Miss Kaya! She was born 1/29/07 and was 8 weeks old this Monday. Kaya is, of course, one of the ND puppy mill puppies.  We are fostering her with her sister, Keely.  They both came to our house VERY smelly and very confused.  They both got two baths (probably their first ever!) and came out of the tub looking and smelling like happy puppies!  Kaya is way into people and will follow Greg and I around everywhere.  She loves to play with other dogs and will keep on her sister until Keely runs to us to make her stop.  When we visit Cody 07-149, they wear each other out.  Kaya tries to play with resident dog Cinder, but Cinder isn't interested in being gnawed on.  Kaya is a confident pup and will sniff and explore more than her sister will.  She was the first to pick up chew toys, leaves, and the water bowl... with the water still inside.  Kaya loves, loves, LOVES water.  She will splash in the water bowl and will knock it over to lay on the water on the patio.  She is very impressed with her skills doing that and would love a little swimming pool for herself!  Kaya will snuggle into you when you hold her and will give kisses.  She is going to the vet tomorrow to make sure everything is A-OK and then she is ready to go home!

Here is some big news for our Kaya!  Not to be outdone by her sister, Kaya charmed her new mom the day they met and wriggled her way right into Diane A's heart.  Kaya went home the same day Keely did with her new mom.  She had some jitters at first, being in a new car, but the "Just got home" update was that she and her new brother Sunny were already becoming best of friends.  Kaya is now Callie and would be just fine if Sunny stopped chasing those balls and just wrestled with her instead.  In the first 2 photos, Kaya is the one chewing on the bones.  The last is of her snuggling into her new mom's arms while her foster mom tries to keep her emotions in check!!

Kaya is a little spitfire in her new home (just like she was here!!) and loves to play.  She will be the star of her puppy classes and will be starting some obedience, too.  Kaya likes to be where her mom is, and will be a great example of the golden breed.  In the time we had her she got a bunch of baths and was slowly learning to keep her crate and our house clean - the memories of where she was born were gone by the time Diane came to bring her home and Kaya ran right up to her with that tail wagging.

All these puppy mill dogs are going to have such Cinderella stories - going from the dust and dirt of the mill conditions to living as they and all dogs should, in loving homes where they are cherished and cared for.  Does it get any better than this?  Kaya would like me to thank Steven and Darcy R for sponsoring her and helping make all her dreams come true.

Foster Mom and Dad missed Kaya and Keely right away (maybe not waking up every 2 hours, though) even if resident dog Cinder was happy to hold the door open when Kaya left.  These two were really special, in lots of ways.  Luckily their families are just fine with keeping us updated!
