Cody has just been growing and filling out. What a difference fresh air, good food, and lots of love has made for this little guy. He has changed so much since he came to our house from the puppy mill - so scared and unsure of himself and so thin and his fur dry and dull. Now, here he is curious, confident, bouncy, good natured, filling out, soft golden fur growing in and happy to be the little golden boy that he is. He is so funny to watch as he plays - he'll be so intent on one toy and then another will catch his eye and he's off playing with that toy. Cody had found that a full size soccer ball in the snow is great fun to chase and jump on. And boy does he love the snow!! He loves to jump in it, and push it around with his nose, and just race through it at break-neck speed (at least break-neck puppy speed). He is so playful with our resident dogs Joey and Bailey and loves to go racing after Bailey (but it's kind of hard to keep up with a full-grown lab when you only have little puppy legs to run on) - but races he does!! Cody has been keeping his crate clean and dry. If he needs to go in the night, he'll cry a little so you know he needs to go potty. Otherwise, he sleeps in his crate quietly and without protest. We are still working on house training. He knows "sit" and does sit very nicely I must say - especially if he knows a treat is coming his way. He is very food motivated. What a big joyous day April 11th was for our little golden Cody boy!!! Cody had captured the hearts of Lu and her daughter Molly and Cody went to his new forever home where he will be well-loved and cared for - making that dirty puppy mill stall a very distant memory. In addition to the love he'll get from Lu and Molly, Cody will also have some four-legged companions (a dog and a cat) to help show him around his new home. Foster mom and dad had to say good-bye to their little Cody golden boy (and yes, foster mom got a bit teary-eyed even though she said she wouldn't) - but they know how well loved he'll be and are so happy that Cody found such a wonderful forever home with Lu and Molly, and are so happy that they will have such a wonderful, special companion in Cody. Before he left Cody asked foster mom to be sure and tell Janna Hill "THANK YOU" once again for sponsoring him. So, from Cody to Janna: lots of kisses, hugs, and puppy snuggles from a very grateful puppy - your help made such a difference in his young life and has enabled him to find a loving home where he will grow up to be a very special very precious golden boy. Thank you!! "I think I don't REALLY need to be in here!" "I'd rather be outside with Bailey!"
Cody likes his toys Cody scores a gooooooooooaaaaaaal!
Cody and his new family! "Thanks Foster Mom, Dad, and Janna!"

In just a week of foster care, you can already see the difference in Cody. He is much more healthy and his coat has gone from being sparse and dry to being soft and shiny. Cody is lovin' life and is a sweet puppy. He is a big fan of his food and is very enthusiastic about meal times, but not obnoxious, like SOME resident dog might be (ahem, Joey). Cody goes in his crate easily and is quiet when he is in there. Housetraining is going slowly but surely. Since he grew up in a puppy mill and didn't have anyone around to clean up after him and his littermates, Cody is figuring out that pottying is for outside. Cody is learning sit and will also fetch a ball or toy. He brings back the toy and will give it to you, too. Cody can entertain himself and you don't have to be constantly looking for him if you can't see/hear him. Cody loves his snuggle time so his new family will have to be ready to snuggle with their new pup! Now that he has a taste of what living with a family can be like, he's not going to be giving this up anytime soon.
Hopefully you can tell the difference in Cody (he's getting bigger, too! Hooray for a good quality food and regular feeding times!) in this photo compared to his first ones where he looks kind of like a little squeaky thing.
