Happy's full AKC name is "Happy New Year II". Happy is a puppy mill girl who came to us originally from MO. She was adopted out but due to home changes she has returned to RAGOM. Happy is now 9.5 years old and her birthday is in November. She is a red Golden with just a dash of gray in the face. Even though she is over 9 she looks like a 6 year old.
Happy spent 7 years of her life in a puppy mill, and due to the treatment and under socialization she is still timid. She will come to you for pets but doesn't wag her tail. When she is outside playing she is a regular dog, but inside she needs to build trust with you before she will be ready to unpack some of her baggage and learn to trust you. Happy was a cage chewer and her teeth are worn down to the pulp because of it
Happy is very sweet, she puts up with me and my Golden boys giving her kisses. She ignores the cats. She is our shadow and sticks close by. She will not jump up on people, she does not go on the furniture, she enjoys doggy beds and prefers them.
Happy is looking for that special person who has other dogs in the home, fenced in yard, and is willing to allow Happy to build trust at her own speed. Puppy mill kids are a little different and they need to trust you before they can show their true personality, and you need to be patient and allow it. Happy is bonding with me, my family, and my Golden goof balls, and it only took a few days at her pace. If I had rushed it then she may have needed more time. I let her decide when it's time to come to me and trust me. Last thing Happy would want is someone to rush up to her and force her to love them. There is no bond or love like the love of a puppy mill kid and once you earn it and see it you will understand how special it is.
Fortunately, Happy has been out of the puppy mill for about 3 years and has learned a lot so she has already come a long way. Happy is very special to me and I want the very best home for this gal... she deserves it.
