Teddy 07-041

Profile

2/18/07: Teddy is a 2 year old purebred Golden Retriever. He is a very big boy, weighing 123 pounds. He definitely needs to lose some weight, but even then he is still going to be one big guy. He is very tall and big boned so he carries this weight well. I have never seen a Golden this big.

Teddy is an owner surrender due to not enough time and the family moved into a smaller house. Teddy got here yesterday and is settling in well. He met my resident dog and my other new foster dog, Lucy 07-050 and all went well. He had never been around a cat, but so far all he does is sniff and walk away, which is great. Teddy is just a gentle giant of a dog. He loves his stuffed toys. In fact, he usually grabs not only one or two, but sometimes three at a time to carry around. He loves to fetch a ball and play out in the snow. Teddy has been wrestling and playing with our resident dog. Both our dog and Lucy have walked right under Teddy, he is that big.

Teddy seems to know some basic commands such as sit and down. He does pull hard when walking so we will have to work on that. With his size it will be important to get that under control. Teddy would benefit from a basic obedience class just to solidify what he knows now and also to increase his basic education. He hasn't counter surfed but can also reach the counter without much effort because he is so tall. He has behaved very well in the house. Teddy is house-trained and up to date on vaccinations. We will be taking a fecal in to get checked this week and of course getting him micro-chipped.

Teddy is a beautiful, well behaved young boy. He does have a gorgeous tail which somehow escaped being in all the photos. We will update more when we get to know Teddy better.

Updates

Monday, February 22, 2010

Hello, we are the L family. We are writing to update you on the dog we adopted in March of 2007. His name is Teddy. This dog has been an incredible addition to our family. Everybody who meets him asks where we got him because he has such a warm, sweet personality, even though he is a big moose!

He is doing great, and we are thankful for him and the experience of adopting him through RAGOM. We attached a picture, and we wanted to let you know that he is doing wonderfully-we won the lottery the day he came to our house.

Thanks again,

The L Family

Teddy has been adopted by the most wonderful family! He is one lucky boy and will have so much attention and love sent his way.  He has a human brother, two sisters and a mom and dad that will take excellent care of him. I received a nice update today from Teddy's new family and he is down to 113 pounds. Yay for Teddy!

Thank you, L. family, for adopting my big boy and giving him such a great home. I have missed him terribly, but it makes me feel so good knowing he has the perfect family that will give him the Golden life he deserves. Thank you for giving a rescued dog a place to call home.

Teddy was adopted last week, but the resident dog was too stressed with a new dog in the house, so he is back with us. We are glad to have him come back to visit. We just love this dog!

Teddy continues to be a wonderful dog and so well behaved for a 2-year-old. We are working on his diet. The vet wanted him to lose 30 pounds. Even if that happens, Teddy will still be a very big boy. He is doing great with Lucy and our resident dog, Gabby. I have seen absolutely no problems with Teddy. He listens well when told to do something and has not gotten into any trouble while staying with us.

Here are some photos of Teddy enjoying the snow from the storm last week. He loves to roll around in it and bury his head.
