 Bailey 1999-2011
Bailey (aka Bay, B-Boy, Bailey Buster, Bales of Hay, Boyfrien, Red Boy) lost his battle with bone cancer on November 18, 2011.
Bailey was rescued by the Golden Retriever Rescue of Minnesota, and came to me (Sherry D.) in March of 2000. He was a scrawny, goofy adolescent with lots of energy—he chewed every rug I had on my floor and kept me so active! A day didn’t go by (even in the dead of winter) that we didn’t go to a dog park, and he grew and matured to become a wonderful companion. He was a lover, and protected me, watched me and became my soul mate in every way. He was my “man barometer” when I began dating, and he let me know (always!) when someone didn’t meet his approval. Needless to say, he liked Jim immediately, and gave him the “paws up”, and invited him into our family with unconditional love.
He was gentle with our Katrina rescues, and raised Tinkie with care, yet always let her know when she was disobeying! He gave her lots of wisdom, and she followed him everywhere. Bailey was a good and loyal dog in all ways, and was often referred to as the “playground monitor”, as he didn’t like other pets breaking the rules—even at the dog park! I always felt safe with him around—he guarded my house, my car and me with loving vigilance.
He fought so hard to stay with me after his diagnosis of cancer, but it eventually took his life. Bailey left for the Rainbow Bridge knowing that he was unconditionally loved, and that his job on this earth was finished. He will be greatly missed by all who knew him, especially me—he was pure LOVE. I love you always, Bailey, and I will see you again at the end of the Rainbow Bridge. You are the BEST!!!
