Rusty (Tiny 04-112)

Profile

Tiny is a two year old neutered male, and like his brother Copper 04-111, was raised from puppy-hood around children and other dogs. He is UTD on his shots and is heartworm negative. He's been started on Heartguard, as well. He gets along with my three Goldens (2 females and a male), but his real love is people. He loooooves people and all the attention they can give him--the more the better. His true calling is to fetch a tennis ball endlessly for a somebody. He is gentle and kind around my 3 year old son and wants to sleep in his room at night. Tiny is used to having free roam of the house. I have found no reason to crate him while he's been here. He will nab things from the counter if given the chance, so we've learned quickly to keep all the interesting stuff put away. He sleeps on a dog bed in our room at night. Tiny does have some discomfort in his hips, so the kind folks at RAGOM are having them looked at more closely to determine what treatment needs to be done to make this boy comfortable. His personality is wonderful in spite of sore hips, so I can only imagine how sweet he will be once he feels better. Keep checking on this boy...any family will be lucky to adopt him. More later as we find out what Tiny's future will hold.

In 2004, two littermates were surrendered to RAGOM. One was named Tiny and the other Copper. Their previous family made what I am sure was a very difficult decision that they could not provide these two golden boys with the life and care they needed. I do not know a lot about their situation at the time, other than they had several small children, Tiny, Copper and another small dog and that financially they were concerned about the care Tiny would need (severe hip dysplasia).

We adopted Tiny, renamed Rusty, on 5/7/2004. He certainly came with some baggage when he arrived--huge separation anxiety, fear of strangers, etc. However, within a matter of months, all of the kinks were worked out and he quickly became embedded in not only our hearts, but was loved by all that had the pleasure of knowing him. With his deep bark he was the family protector; with his gently heart and soft coat he became a favorite cuddling companion on a bad day; with the other dogs in the neighborhood he played the role of the patriarch; on walks he was the one that reminded you to stop and smell the roses—literally; and at the cabin he was lead fisher dog. In short, he was the best dog a family could ask for and brought every one who knew him happiness and furry love.

Thank you for giving us the privilege of having him in our lives, he made each one of us a better person and we were truly blessed to have seven wonderful years with him.

Regards,

Phil and Heather R.

Tiny has recently been to the vet who said he is a great dog with lots of personality. Tiny is on a small diet, he needs to loose a few pounds, as he has had some sore hips. His hips have been evaluated and are being treated with Rimadyl which has brought Tiny immense relief. Tiny is going for multiple short walks per day to help him get into shape. When we return from the walks, Tiny is more than happy to play catch with the tennis ball, Frisbee or his favorite stuffed toy, his Boca burger.

Likes to snuggle, Tiny is a big time cuddler and will cuddle with anyone. He loves children -- my daughter likes to read him stories which he listens to patiently. He also loves rides in the car and with the warm weather he likes to ride "free style" with his head out of the window!
