Abby 04-118

Profile

Abby is a 4 yr old spayed golden mix. She is UTD on everything. I don't know for sure what she weighs yet, but it's got to be pushing 100lbs! She has beautiful thick white fur that is very matted right now and will probably have to be trimmed up good to get the mats out. She has always been an outdoor dog, but has adjusted to being indoors beautifully. She has been gated into 2 rooms and has had NO accidents for up to 10 hrs. She had no cat history, yet she gets along fine with my house cats. She gets along well with both male and female dogs, but would rather be with her human companions. She is very easy going and comes to her name. She walks well on a leash, especially with a gentle leader. She does not like being crated much, but as I mentioned, she has no problem being gated into a smaller part of the house. She is very calm and quiet and has no guarding issues that I have found.

She is a very big, lovable dog that would be a great friend and companion in any forever home.

It's with great sadness that I let RAGOM know that I lost my beautiful Abby, 04-118, shortly after 3:00a.m. this morning. Abby seemed normal and was eating well, did her business as she should, begged for treats as usual, stalked and chased the squirrels in our yard and was always excited for her walk. However, Abby had been panting very excessively the last few months and my vet had exhausted every test and x-ray he could think of and could find absolutely nothing wrong, so he set us up with a specialist. Our appointment was suppose to be this afternoon, but Abby passed away on my diningroom floor before we could ever be seen. Her sudden death was a shock to me as well as my family and friends, and my vet was absolutely stunned.

Abby, who had just turned 11, was a gentle giant. She was a Golden/Great Pyr mix and she was the biggest dog my Mom and I had ever had and also the biggest wimp of a dog we ever had. :-) She was beautiful and absolutely the nicest dog you could ever hope to meet.

We adopted Abby when she was 4 and we thoroughly enjoyed her for a short 7 years. She helped me get through the death of both of my parents in 2007, as well as the death of my cat on 1/31 of this year. Abby was always a comfort and has left a huge hole in my heart!

We'll never know what took Abby's life so suddenly, but I do know in my heart of hearts that the excessive panting had to have something to do with it and it had to be something that just couldn't be seen in the work my vet had done for Abby. Armed with that knowledge, I do take comfort in knowing that Abby is now breathing easy, she's getting lots and lots of treats from my Mom and she's running pain free with all the animals that crossed the bridge before her.

Thank you RAGOM, for allowing Abby to become part of our family. We gave her a GREAT life, but I truly think we are the ones who benefitted most.

Sincerely,
Becky L
