3/11/07: Please welcome Kasey, a sweet 9-year-old purebred Golden who ended up at a humane society after her owner died suddenly. Kasey had been well taken care of by her owner with regular vet visits, spaying, and always up to date on her shots. Unfortunately, he fed her a little too much and this poor gal now weighs 104 lbs. She is also shorter than the average Golden. So we instituted a weight loss plan for Kasey immediately. We took her for short walks for the first couple of days and then today walked her through the golf course - and she did great! The vet said she is very healthy except for arthritis. Yesterday was the first day she attempted the steps in our four-level house, and today she's going up and down with the rest of the gang. She was heartworm negative. She's never been around other dogs and she growls softly every time one of the other dogs walks by. She does not growl at the cat however! She's friendly to everyone she meets - walks right up and wags her tail. She hasn't been around too many kids yet. She is totally housebroken, rarely barks, walks good on a leash, and sleeps all night. She has the prettiest face with a hint of white and gorgeous reddish golden fur. This senior gal has a sweet disposition and will feel even better when she starts to lose weight.
