Profile

3/4/07: Buddy is a 1 ½ year old Golden who arrived from northern Minnesota in the late afternoon on March 3rd. He was surrendered by his family because they thought he could have a better life with a family that had more time for him. He has spent most of his life outside and chained up. He has a very thick coat and a big head. Buddy will go to the vet this week for a check up, weigh-in, and to get ready to be neutered. Right now we are estimating his weight to be about 90 lbs. Yes, he is a big boy. Here’s a note from Buddy:

Hi everyone! Thanks for visiting my website! My name is Buddy (aka Big Bear by my foster humans). They tell me that I am a gorgeous Golden with beautiful red fur, big paws, gigantic head, lots of energy, and a sweet personality. I love the snow and I race around in the backyard with my foster brother and former RAGOM dog, Copper. I am a very active boy and it takes a while for me to settle down and relax. I pant a lot and my humans are not sure if it is because I have spent my whole life outside and have a thick coat or if I am anxious right now.

To be honest, I don’t understand leashes ---don’t think I have used them ever before, but I am tolerating the leash and a Gentle Leader. I pull really, really hard and will need lots of work for walks. I get along with other dogs and would be good with a family that has kids. However, I don’t know my own size and may bump over small children. And watch out for the coffee table. Why do things need to be on the coffee table anyways? I clear it with my big posterior. Oh, also, I want to tell you that I need a fenced in yard, pretty please. And, cats, probably not a good idea because I think they are just overgrown squirrels or something from outside and I just want to chase them. Please take a look at my pictures and let me know if you would like to meet me. I am very excited to find my forever family, so if you are interested please email the placement humans.

Updates

Thursday, March 8, 2007

Hello again, it’s me Buddy! I wanted to update you all on my wonderful progress. I have settled in really well, calmed down, and love snuggling. I think I am at the doggy Hilton. I went to the vet Tuesday and was a really good boy. Believe it or not I am 75 lbs. Perfect weight. My teeth are really nice and white. I will be neutered on Monday (*snip snip*).

Oh, and by the way, I am perfectly house trained…no accidents! And, I let them know when I have to go out by going to the back door. I sleep through the night, on the bed of course, with one of my foster humans and I get so excited in the morning and wag my tail when it’s time to get up.

Here are some of my favorite hobbies: running in the snow, chasing the ball, wrestling with other doggies, snuggling with my foster humans, and I even watch TV. This summer I look forward to the possibility of swimming---don’t think I have ever done that, but it is one of my foster brother’s favorite past times.

Well, I do have a couple of things I need to share. I have counter-surfed a couple of times. The humans used to keep treats in an easy spot, but not anymore. When they cook in the kitchen I just lie down in the middle of the floor like a content little pooch. I never beg. My foster family left me home alone a couple of times for up to 4 hours and I did not destroy anything.

And, I had another incident. I am a very strong boy. I escaped through the front door by plowing through one of my foster humans and buckling his legs. I went about 3 blocks away and sat on top of a snow bank and wiggled my rear when my foster auntie came up in her car. She called my name and I hopped right in. I definitely need to go to a forever home that has a fence and maybe even an entry way porch, so if I escape there are 2 doors instead of just one. Again, no cats please. If you have other dogs, that’s a plus because I have played well with every dog I have ever met.

Check out my new pictures, including the one that shows my foster humans squishing up my cute face. I am such a love muffin.
