12/30/06: We went to meet Cash at the shelter yesterday, December 29th. He was found a stray in another county about 20-25 miles from here?what a beauty of a boy! Our hearts just melted! Tail was wagging and he had a whole bowl of food yet in his kennel at the shelter as he has not been eating. Just incredibly glad to see someone and get out of that kennel! Cash is about 1 to 1.5 yrs of age. He weighs 72.6 pounds. He is a fine weight. Cash has not been neutered and we can feel his ribs somewhat. Cash has reddish gums that are somewhat sore and we are thinking between his gums being sore and the stress of this shelter, he would not eat. His behaviors were great?.just like a Golden! He absolutely DID NOT want to go back in that kennel! Poor guy?so scared. We scheduled to pick him up and vet him and get him into a temp foster care for today.

Today Calvin Cash had his first vet check. He needed help getting into our truck?I think he was scared. Once inside he loved riding and looking around. He did listen very well. Once at the vet office, he did fine?well behaved. Had no trouble with the vet or vet tech. He was a very good boy. Cash was fully vetted - the vet found some yeast in ears so he's being treated with Otomax for that. He did fine with having his ears checked. He received all current vaccines and Cash did test positive (very mild form) for lyme disease and is being treated for that as well. His coat and skin are fine. His red gums (teeth are perfect) are probably due to grooming himself and taking out burrs from his fur - some of the burrs made his gums sore. Should clear up in few days. When we took him to another place close to our home to kennel him for a while, he did fine getting into the truck and riding. No problem jumping up in back and going for a ride. Cash has a great personality and looks that are a true Golden beauty. He is going to be such a great boy for someone! Calvin Cash went to his new temp foster home today and is scheduled to be neutered next week. He is such a wondrous great beauty inside and out!

Just wanted to let everyone know Cash just left with his new Mom and Dad!! It was an awesome day. Cash WILL have the best home with these people! They were here for a few hours and we got to know each other, tears and hugs in the driveway, it is amazing what a dog can do to people! I feel Randy and Kathy will be my friends for a long time. Thanks Cash!
