From Wrigley's (fka Ralts) forever family...
Dear RAGOM friends,
As background, Wrigley had formerly lived with a family in St. Paul. When he was approximately 2 years old, the family decided that they did not have any time for him or any of their pets, and that's how Wrigley found his way to RAGOM. We had another dog at the time (a rescue black lab) who desperately wanted a brother. Having loved Goldens, RAGOM was a logical choice for us. SO... We adopted Wrigley and the rest is history. He even has another new brother (a chocolate lab puppy) so the 3 of them are having a ball.
We learned very early on that Wrigley is a very proud dog and loves having a job to do. So on this particular trip, we had taken Wrigley and Harley (our black lab) up to the Gunflint Trail to a cabin/resort that allows dogs. Each day, they would swim in the lake and chase ducks or whatever was brave enough to swim by with the 2 of them swimming around. We would start our day with a hike, either around the campgrounds or up into the mountains. We purchased a backpack for Wrigley and his "job" became carrying the water bottles for all of us. He was so happy (as the picture suggests) to be the proud "water dog" for the group. He led the pack by staying way ahead of us and ensured that we were safe to walk where we were headed. This photo was taken at the end of a very long hike, when Wrigley just happened to look up from his water dish and give us a big lip smacking smile. I think it represents just how happy he is now to be with a loving family!
