Trixie 06-415

Profile

9/9/06: Welcome to RAGOM, Trixie. We promise to find you a wonderful forever family to help you forget that the first 2 years of your life have been so awful. Trixie came to us from a pet store that was shut down. She and her brother (Chaz, 06-416) were in a filthy window together, and luckily for them and all the animals, they were rescued and all are now on the road to GReat lives.

Trixie is estimated to be around 2 years old, and weighs 41 pounds, which is about 15 pounds less than ideal. Three suds-rinse cycles don't even seem to have touched on her horrible smell, but even though she doesn't smell like a rose, she's clean as a whistle. Trixie seems to crave touch more than anything, everytime I took my hands off of her, even while brushing her horrible snarls, she would turn her baby browns on me as if pleading "don't stop". She has briefly seen the vet and received some vaccinations, but there is a slight possibility she may be pregnant, so we are waiting to find out for sure before we go any further. If she is not pregnant, she will be spayed, receive the rest of her vaccinations, and will be immediately available for adoption. If she is pregnant, that means I better do some major research on whelping puppies, as she will be hanging out with us for some time. She has dirty ears that are infected, so those are being treated. She was passing worms, so as soon as we find out which kind, appropriate treatment will begin. We are also waiting on heartworm test results. Trixie is as cute as you can imagine. She's playful and affectionate with our golden, they were kissing as soon as she got here. She is afraid of lots of things, as you'd expect from a dog that hasn't been very socialized. Doorways are scary, as are children running across a room. Her nose is constantly to the ground when outside as if she's never smelled the air or grass or bunnies or squirrels before (she wouldn't even take a second from sniffing to pose for a decent photo!). Inside, she's a good girl and just curls up at your feet. I'm not sure if she's housebroken, but so far hasn't had any accidents. We are about to go for a walk, I'm sure she's never done that before, either.

Miss Trixie had her spay surgery today, and seems happy to be back home on her blanket. She seems to be very sore, so we'll do our best to to keep her comfortable for the next few days. I didn't think it possible, but she actually looks thinner now than she did this morning. This despite the fact she's gained one pound just since Saturday!
