Joshua 05-257

Profile

Joshua is an 8 month old purebred Golden, still very much a puppy. Joshua's owner moved to an apartment and could not take him along, so he was then taken in by the owners' parents. They could not keep him, so they called RAGOM and now he is staying with me until we can find him that great home! Joshua is a great puppy with lots of energy and playfulness. I would recommend a family that has time to spend with him so he can expend some of that abundant energy - energy that most young dogs have - and a family that will give him the time to love and train him - to be that great family member! He would be great in a family with children and could easily live with or without another dog in the family. If there are children in his new forever home, I would recommend that they be older than toddlers as Joshua is still young and rambunctious and could easily knock over a young child. Joshua will be going to the Vet to get caught up with all of his shots, be heartworm tested and neutered, then he'll be ready to go to his forever home!

WOW, I looked up Josh on the web site and I couldn't believe that it has been that long since I last updated his progress. There is not a lot of new news to report on Josh, he is still that lovable, frisky pup that just wants to play all the time. We did get another recent addition to our household, a three month old puppy, Golden Retriever/Border Collie mix. Josh and the puppy - named JoJo, play all the time. Josh still plays with his foster brother, 05-127 Oakley, but he prefers to play with little JoJo more (maybe because he can be the boss with JoJo). JoJo will get after Josh if he plays too rough with him, it is pretty funny to hear little JoJo growl at Josh and then chase him around because he got mad because Josh probably bit him too hard. Hard to believe that little puppy can instill fear in that big puppy, Josh!! We're working on a new command, "gentle", which means to play nice and be gentler with each other. That is the same command I use when having them take treats out of my hand, to be gentle and take treats softly. Joshua would so like to have his own forever home, where he can get more individual attention, more love and, of course, more PETS!!! He is a great young dog, easily trainable, already has some commands down pat, is housetrained, up to date on his shots, and neutered. His only faults are he is a little wiggle butt when excited, he kind of bounces around and would really like to jump up on you but knows he is not supposed to do that - and he needs more work with walking on the leash. Other than that he would make a great addition to any family that wants to have a canine family member.

Joshua, that long legged young boy, is still doing great! Joshua is at that age where his body needs to grow into his legs, his long legs can be quite awkward for him, and quite comical. Josh also has those random bursts of energy, where just out of the blue he'll take off and run like the wind all over the yard. Joshua has his quiet times too, he likes to have his afternoon nap and right now he is laying by my chair taking a short nap before bed time.

Joshua will be going to his final obedience class this week. He is doing very good for such a young dog, he still thinks that the other dogs rule though, so he doesn't always pay attention at class. Taking Joshua to another obedience class with his new family would be a real plus for both him and his family. It is a great way to start a new relationship and form a good bond with your dog.

Josh knows all the basic commands, and can even roll over and do a spin. He doesn't jump up on people but can be quite the wiggle butt when he is around you. He is always eager to please and is very treat motivated. Josh loves to get pets and loves to jump into bed with you in the morning to get some kisses and belly rubs before it is time to get up. He would even crawl into your lap when you are watching TV if you would let him. Josh has been known to counter cruise so it would be wise for his family to keep the counter tops clean. As with a lot of young dogs, Josh likes to chew, so to keep him out of trouble he would need to have chew toys around so he can chew on appropriate things - like bones, kongs filled with treats, etc....

Joshua is patiently waiting to meet his forever family, he would like a family where he doesn't have to compete with three other dogs for attention. He could live with another dog or without one - if he did live with another dog, it would be better to have a dog that likes to play because Josh LOVES to play. Josh would love to have kids around to play with but he might be too rambunctious for toddlers, his wiggle butt could easily knock over a youngster. Josh is neutered and up to date with his shots, micro chipped and heartworm negative - all he needs now is lots of love and YOU.

Joshua went on a family camping trip in September. Joshua had a great time camping and was such a good boy. Because there were not many campers and we took a site at the end of the road, Josh got to spend lots of time off leash. He got to run through the woods, go swimming in the creek and sleep right next to me. AWHHHH, life was good !!!!
