Sticks 04-337

Profile

Sticks is an 8-week-old puppy who was part of a 9- puppy litter that came into RAGOM. The same family gave us 6 puppies in the spring and were so pleased with how we found homes for the others, they gave us 9 more! One of RAGOM's missions is to educate people about how to avoid accidental breedings and we are sharing this information with the family. We are so glad that they called us again so these wonderful pups can find the perfect forever homes and live happily ever after, which is what they deserve.

10/11/04 I picked up Sticks (I think that is a game I used to play when I was little) at Jane's house on Friday evening 10/8. For a little guy he did very well in the car. I just wrapped him in my sweatshirt and he slept most of the way home. When I got home home I should have taken him right to the patch of grass by my condo but I took him upstairs so of course he piddled on the floor a little. But I've had him three days now and surprisingly he has not had another accident. The first evening he woke up at 4 AM and had to go potty and I took him outside and he went and then put him back in his crate and he was went right back to sleep and slept until we got up.

On 10/9 I took him to my 4-year-old nephew's soccer game and the kids just loved him. He did very well around all the kids and adults that wanted to play with him and I made sure all the little kids were gentle with him. After the soccer game I took him to a little rally on Stone Arch Bridge and everyone there loved him too. There were other dogs at the park and he did very well with them. He was very tired from all the commotion. Again, he did very well in the car. We watched the Twins game and he took naps. That evening he woke up around 4:30 AM and 6:30 AM to go to the bathroom. HE slept in until 9:30 AM on Sunday.

10/10 - Sticks helped us with work around the house and then slept while we watched the Vikings game. After the game we got another Golden because we're dog-sitting for the week. The other dog is 4 and they are best buddies now. The big Golden will be a good mentor for Sticks. Last night he woke up at 11 PM and 3AM for potty breaks from his slumber. This is great training for whenever my husband and I start a family.

Sticks likes to cuddle and is so soft. He does like to bite and chew everything. I'm very impressed with his potty training so far. I was worried about that because I have not had a puppy since I was about 5. I really don't know how to potty train but whatever I'm doing it is working so far.

Pictures will be out as soon as I can coordinate a photo shoot with one of the volunteers.
