Gidget 06-069

Profile

2/26/06: Gidget arrived with the rest of her brothers and sisters last night. Rumor has it dad was a full Golden and mom was a Lab/Golden mix -- in which case Gidgi is a daddy's girl. We went to the vet this morning, so far she appears to be in good health and weighed in at 13 pounds. She was one of the bigger puppies and carries her weight in a little puppy booty.

We were a little skeptical about her name before we met her. But Gidget/Gidgi really seems to fit this spunky pup. Last night was a little rough from a whining perspective -- it's tough being away from your litter for the first time! We are working on learning "outside" and "potty" - through diligence and puppy smarts we have had no accidents thus far!

If you are at all interested in meeting this wonderful little girl and have been approved, please email placementatragom [dot] org. If you are not approved ? send in an application so we can get this little girl into your home.

Hello,

Wanted to give you an update on Ruby (formerly Gidget # 06-069) and send a picture of this growing girl. She is 5 ½ months old now and weighs in at 53 lbs. She has brought such joy and excitement to our lives and wanted to share that with you. We have recently moved into a house and she has adapted beautifully enjoying a larger area to run and explore. She continues to enjoy her toy giraffe given to her by her foster Mom and Dad and all the treats we can muster up.

Sincerely,

The W's ~ Phil, Julie, Mike and John

Gidget continues to do well. She went back to the vet today and she has a small infection - so she is on some antibiotics. We also learned that she has gained 3 pounds, because this girl can eat!

She plays beautifully with our 1.5 year old Golden and when the cats hiss at her, she hits the deck (smart dog!). Playing with Bishop really tires her out and she is sleeping better at night (which is nice for all of us!).

We are doing pretty well with potty training and we are only getting up once a night to go outside. She seems to be figuring out what "outside" and "potty" mean. She has also mastered going up the stairs and will go down the 3 steps to the backyard, but still won't do the entire flight of stairs inside the house.

Earlier this week, some other RAGOM volunteers came over for some puppy kisses - so we have a few new photos.

She is a sweet puppy who can't wait to meet her forever family!!

Gidget LOVES to drink water...she knows where all of the water bowls are (or at least where they should be when we leave them on the floor) and if you turn on the kitchen sink - she will come running to see if maybe you are going to give her a drink. She is also a healthy eater and has the tendency to get the hiccups after a big meal. Gidget's love of water does not extend to baths, and she tends to let the whole neighborhood know how she feels about them.

She has finally convinced our Golden that maybe he DOES want to play with her, which makes her exceedingly happy. Like a couple of her siblings, she does NOT like to be crated, so we have been babygating her in our front entry when we are gone and will continue to work on teaching her that a crate is not a scary place.

Gidgi is still learning the ways of the world -- when someone comes home and the other dogs go running and barking to the door, Gidget runs and hides in the opposite direction. She is also still learning that if you sit on the very edge of the couch, and then get too excited -- you usually fall off. She is a busy girl and she doesn't have much need for napping - but makes a pretty good cuddle bug when she finally collapses.
