Profile

10/15/05: Stella is a petite, beautiful one year old Golden. She was surrendered by her owners who said she was too much for them to handle. They said she is mouthy and dominant toward their small children and barks excessively. Stella will need to be seen by the vet this week to update her shots and be tested for heartworm. It appears that she has not seen a vet for a year. We'll also be getting her spayed! Thus far, she has met our three children and seems very loving toward them (ages 5,8 and 10). She is a bit timid and unsure of being in the house but I believe she'll adjust quickly. The four resident dogs have played with her and ran her all over the yard so she is happy and tired now. She sits nicely and is content to lay at my feet. What a gorgeous color she is! A bit darker brown in the face and reddish/golden with lighter feathering. She won't last long! Once we get her vet work done, she'll be ready for her forever home! Email Placementatragom [dot] org!

Stella here. Marion, Iowa isn't so bad! The car ride was fun and I was a good girl. Right now I am a little scared since I am in new surroundings and the three children I see running around are arguing....man, I hope that doesn't last long.....Anyway, did my foster mom tell you I am sooo beautiful? And, I am housetrained...That is such a plus. I have already tried out this thing called a crate and I am fine in it as long as I am in the same room as other people. Otherwise, I barked some and whined a bit. I heard my foster mom say it was okay and that we'd try it a little at a time. I love the dogs here! What fun. I am not used to being in a fenced in yard so that is news to me. I have scanned the perimeter for places to escape, but these people seem to have it covered. I do like to jump up and will have to be trained and loved so I don't do this anymore. I would love for someone to take me to puppy class. I bet I'd be a fast learner. Well, it's time to eat around here, so off I go. More later! - Stella.

Week two with Stella and she is a total love. She knows sit and come and is working on down and off. She is still pulling on the lead so a gentle leader may be just her ticket. Stella loves other dogs and her people. She is a cuddler and will lay on your lap without much prompting. She did decide today to chew up one of the bottoms of the dog bowls but she was bored on the porch apparently while we were at church. So, she entertained herself. I saw her counter surfing today but who could blame her, there were cookies up there. Luckily, she got caught before she had a chance to lick them all.

Stella went for a little hike yesterday and waded in the creek. It was a little cold, but she wasn't at all scared of the water. She loves being outdoors with you. She isn't particulary fond of being out there all by herself but as long as she can be with you, she is comfortable! She had to have a bath after hanging out in the water. She isn't so crazy about bath time. Good news is, she dries really fast and doesn't shake too much. Take a look at the new pics. All of the dogs are together in this one and they can really fill up a kitchen. Stella is the smallest on the right next to my old girl, Maddie. The rest are just big, lovable lumps of fur (Chelsea, Bo, Vinnie, Stella and Maddie)

Hello everyone. Stella here. Wow, I have so much to tell you in the short time I've been at my new foster home. I played hard yesterday with my new family and all of the dogs. I met the neighbor dog, too, but he didn't have much use for me. I am a bit too energetic for him. Just before my bedtime last night, my foster mom could not find me. Little did she know that I was all snuggled up next to the 10 year old girl in her bed and she and I were telling stories under the blankets. When I was finally spotted, I was told to go outside and enjoy my last pee break for the day. When I came back in I went right into my crate, no problem. I slept hard all night until 7:15 this morning. My crate was toasty warm. These people like to keep the windows open at night even when it's cool outdoors so I just snuggled into my blanket! I woke up this morning ready to play and ran right outside to do my thing. My foster mom took me to Petco today to pick me up a new shiny red collar. She said red looks great on me, and got me some puppy food, too. Then we went to do some other errands and I just layed in the backseat and rested. When I got home, I had to take a BATH...YIKES. The water was warm, but I am not so sure I enjoyed it. I tried to get out of the tub a couple times, but finally I settled in. It does feel good to be clean! I am such a great dog. If you are interested in me, just know that I want some consistent human companionship each day. I'd love for my forever home to include someone who is home part of the day at least. I deserve it! Otherwise, I might whine and bark from loneliness!
