Farewell to our boy Pete ~ Although it is difficult to write this memorial we so appreciate we are offered the chance to formally say goodbye to Pete; knowing that his Ragom family grieves his loss as well. To Pete’s angel Laurie who interceded on his behalf; and to the T family for fostering him, he was your boy too. Sincere thanks as well to the volunteers that work endlessly and selflessly in intake, transport, home visits; the unsung heroes on the front lines and behind the scenes in his Ragom family. It took a village to help him to safety and a loving home; and we thank each and every one of you for bringing him to us.
On Thanksgiving as family gathered we celebrated Pete knowing his time was at hand as the cancer that claimed his eye had returned. Etched forever in memory is Pete by the fire, in the warmth and comfort of home, loved by family, his Gaby Girl and his kitties.
His farewell to his Gaby Girl was heart wrenching and we thank his Auntie LuAnn for helping comfort him on his way to The Bridge on a treacherous snowy night. It was December 9th, just short of his thirteenth birthday. Pete caught a “shooting star” and took the evening flight straight to heaven. He carried his deceased first owner Sally’s Slipper, the T family’s Green Grinch, his Wing Foot Ball….and our hearts. The unspoken agreement we made for his devotion and unconditional love was fulfilled. Home is empty without his presence, but there is solace knowing he no longer struggles. The light has dimmed and left my eyes
