Profile

4/12/06: Who can resist a face like this? Meet Merlin - one big hunk of furry love and affection. He is a 3 ? yr old purebred male who weighs about 60 pounds. He is a reddish-honey color with a large head and beautiful brown eyes. Merlin came from Northern Minnesota where he lived outside with his brother Willy and another female Golden. He is due to be neutered and be updated on all of his shots next Wednesday.

He arrived after 6 hours of travel on Sunday night and has settled into our household well. He is housebroken and gets along well with our cat and female Black Lab. At first he was a little skittish, but has adapted quickly. He has a beautiful coat and rough on his chest, legs and tail and is a very well behaved gentleman. He had no aggression issues and allows me to take his bones and food and toys away with no problem. I don't believe I have ever seen him when he wasn't wagging his tail.

He is a perfect gentleman, waits patiently to be fed and responds quickly to "No" when it is used. I still keep him on a leash when we go for walks, but I believe he will stay close and come back when he is called. He LOVES to be outside (I have nose skootches all over my front window) and so far has not tried to dig up my back yard. His favorite spot is on the couch in the TV room and would happily warm your toes on your bed at night if you let him. He is a happy eater and so far no allergies or other health concerns. He will get a thorough vet check next week.

Merlin's a great dog, one who easily adapts to new things. He is very curious and patient. Loves to run and play fetch. He actually brings the things back! (Must be his previous hunting training as there was some mention that they were used to hunt with their previous owner.) I live near a Sportsmen club and the skeet shooters were going strong last night and he wasn't the least bit concerned. While he has lots of energy, he is perfectly content to just settle in and snooze while I watch tv or prepare dinner, so he is a very comfortable dog to be with. But, if there is any possibility of a little petting going on he will lay his head in your lap and just sigh. He truly is a sweetheart. Please consider him for adoption.
