7/29/06: Mississippi Molly has made her way to Minnesota, and she is absolutely gorgeous. Molly is 1/2 Golden and 1/2 Flat Coat Retriever. She looks like a black Golden Retriever, she has the feathering on her legs also. She is very sweet and loves to give kisses.
Molly got in very late last night, so when we got home we went straight to bed. Stink and all...
The last year of this little lady's life has been rather rough. Let me tell you the little bit I know about her background.
Her owner had to leave her behind when he had to evacuate when the hurricanes hit. When things settled down and people could make their way back, the owner asked his elderly parents to check and see if Molly was still alive and if she was, would they keep her until he got back. They found her and have had her since - the owner recently came back and decided that he could not keep her and his parents weren't able to care for her any longer either. So he took Molly to the local shelter. Lucky for Miss Molly, there just happened to be 2 women from Minnesota there who have been rescuing dogs from the area and bring them here. They in turn contacted Ragom and asked if we could take in a few more lost souls. And here she is.
So far Molly is settling in very well. She was quite nervous last night and spent part of the night pacing and scratching. She finally settled down after she hopped up in the bed, then she fell fast asleep.
Molly has spent her first day in Mn. getting a much needed bath. She was not happy about getting in the shower stall but once in she calmed down and loved all of the attention. Man did the water run dirty. I had to scrub and scrub, but she is a new girl now. Her coat now shines.
She has VERY long nails and we are working on those. She seems to have a bit of a respiratory thing going, she sneezes alot and she seems to breath kind of funny. Hopefully she just has a cold and nothing more. I have no idea how old she is, so we will have the vet take a guess. Molly has a vet appt. on Monday so we will know more then.
