Hanna 06-326

7/26/06: 4:00pm....Here are pictures of Hanna girl.........Just got her about and hour ago. I had to send pics right away! WHAT A DOLL........she was received by my troops, including cats, just fine! She is SO THIN...if you could pet her, just bones.....back bone like a razor blade...etc. The personality it perfect. She still has a slight cough as she does have kennel cough. She is a velcro doggie already and I love it. She is calm, and a true golden in personality. Hanna will be available AFTER a spay which I do not know when it can be done due to her weight (about 37-39 pounds is all). I am very confident she will have a good appetite in time and once she gets used to the medicine she is on. Gosh, what a love! We will enjoy fostering this girl and do the very best we can.

She is officially ADOPTED today!

Hannah and my family met the most gracious, warm, caring couple ever. They have had and lost goldens and were ready for a real true golden rescue. Hannah, our lovely girl, is going to a wonderful new forever home tonight. She is a happy camper as are her new owners and caregivers. Hannah met and did fine with her new brother Bo, a border collie. They will become great friends I am sure.

Her new family and Hannah took to each other very very well. An experienced family with dogs and lots of love, Hannah will be in wonderful hands. She is also at a point where she is just beginning to blossom after a horrible beginning out west with her mom. Terribly emaciated, and scared, she has now put on 16# in two weeks and has a lot of energy and is looking pretty sharp and lovely! Hannah is a true true beauty inside and out….and we are going to really miss her. This has been a great week and her mother was adopted out as well. For two doggies who were dumped in a night box, starved and uncared for, they are in a true companion and family heaven. We have a lot to be thankful for with these wonderful families we get who are willing to take a risk on these almost forgotten, mistreated dogs.

Congrats to you the new family! Hannah, you too….with all my love and heart sweetie. It was a true pleasure to take care of you and watch you grow physically and emotionally in such a short time. I know in my heart for real, you are truly going to be a happy, healthy GOLDEN RETRIEVER for the rest of your life! Miss you honey. We love to foster for Ragom.

We have had Hannah girl now since July 26th and she has made some pretty huge steps! After much medication from being so underweight and not taken care of, poor diet and exercise, this girl’s personality is beginning to finally show through and she is a DOLL! She is very much still the Velcro girl, which is understandable. She is however, fine when we go to work and are actually “gone” away from home. She and the troops (dogs and cats) do perfectly fine for 3-6 hours alone. Not on accident at all and I do not believe there will ever be one…she will stand at the door when she needs to go out, otherwise everyone just goes at once 3-4 times a day. Her appetite is now wonderful, finally! She is getting fed 2X a day with the other dogs (early morning and supper) and I am supplementing her in small amounts mid afternoon and mid evening. It is so good to see her eat dog food and enjoy it! Hannah also loves to come visit me in the shower….water does not bother this lady! Needs to know where I am all the time yet. She handles taking medicines, drops or whatever you need to do just fine. Hannah also really enjoys being groomed. I use a much softer brush due to her being so thin and boney for now. She will lay still if I need to cut a knot out and no problems petting her, cleaning her body and ears, just very well behaved and no indications of being uncomfortable being touched, etc.

Hannah travels very well in the truck and does well at pet stores and being social. You need to go very slow, but her social graces are really coming around. Just needs more experiences, but really like the drives!

Hannah walks well, and she walks right next to you! Sometimes a little too close so I hold the leash out a ways. She is generally walked with one of the other three dogs and that goes very, very well. Hannah does sometimes prefer to walk on grass rather than the sidewalk or street (when we cross it); I don’t think she was ever on a hard surface much but getting the hang of it and enjoys her walks tremendously! Cleaning her teeth goes fine as well. She will make you just “melt” when she perks up at something and those little ears go up and that face……….just so pretty! Hannah has figured out if you lay on the floor register you can really stay cool….does not help the humans at all! When invited, she will sleep with you, otherwise on the floor right by me. With or without doggie pillow, it really does not matter to her with the carpet. Hannah is guarded when we walk and meet other people and or/dogs…she is scared. So a slight growl, a very low one, comes out; I tell her it’s ok, remain calm, have her sit so I can greet the other person and dog (if they are ok with it) and then she is fine….she knows in my opinion, they will not hurt me…I tell people we are learning to become social and would they like to pet her and come up slow, back of hand and see how she is. Most of my neighborhood people know us and our dogs and they are ok with this. Hannah does fine…no growling what so ever and does not cower either. She looks, sniffs, sits, and lets them either pass by with no sound or they can pet her. I feel obedience training with Hannah would obviously do a lot, but also bring whoever is her forever person very, very close. She actually is getting playful too, now that she is finally feeling better! Just a puppy, really. There are no favorite toys at this time but she will chew Nylabones or pig skin ones…but has never growled (this is all always supervised) at any of my other dogs if they are interested in the same thing. The personality coming out of her is so heart warming and wonderful to see!!! Hannah can be spayed probably toward the end of next week or early the week of the 21st. Hannah should handle this very well and bounce back very quickly. Hannah will probably be available after mid week of August 14th. I do believe she needs to bond with a forever family sooner than later as I believe she is getting so very attached to me and our home. I just cannot say enough about her….she will make someone just about the most perfect companion you could ask for in a Golden.

Here are a couple new pics of our girl with Chey--10 year old female (no not the human!) She is so very good for me! She continues to do well. She is getting better with her cough now that she is on Robitussin about 4X a day. I really believe that, and I know this is early, but she needs a "family" maybe even kids and other dogs. She truly enjoys what is coming in and out, the going's on and all that. Where we are, kids, grandkids, cats, all that stuff. She is still very well behaved and we have not see any agressions at all towards anyone. I hope we see some weight on her by next week and have a little progress that way. She is going to make the right home a very happy happy place and be an awesome addition. Patience and love.
