Charlie 04-390

Profile

Charlie has arrived! He is a very gentle, energetic pure-bred 1 year old Golden. He is very friendly. He rode well in both cars to get to his foster home. He met our dog and the neighbor's dogs and they played until it looked like one of them would pass out. If Don Juan had been a dog, he would have been Charlie! We will update you early next week when we have had the chance to see the vet.

Did you know that Thanksgiving is not only known for turkey, but also for adopting a Golden? Help us keep that tradition alive by considering this gentle lad to be part of your family.....he is way better for your heart than stuffing and desserts!

Charlie has settled in wonderfully. He is a lover! He gets along with every dog he meets. He gets along with people even better. He is a very energetic dog. I think he is more puppy than a 1 year old. He and our Lab tear around the house until both are about to pass out from exhaustion.

Charlie likes to chew things: bones, stuffed animals, balls, etc. He has no food aggression. He is starting to walk better on a lead, but still pulls a little; our ten year-old is able to control him for his walks though. Charlie likes to play tug and will fetch anything that is thrown. When he is outside we keep him on a long lead as we do not have a fenced yard. We were told that he is trained for invisible fences. Charlie is house trained and sleeps well through the night next to our bed (he would rather be on it though).

Tuesday we gave Charlie a bath and he was very good in the tub. Wednesday was the first time we have had him in a crate and he was in it for about three hours with no problems. Charlie also visited the vet Wednesday. He does have a slight infection in his ears, but is on medication to clear that up. He is neutered and weighs 73 lbs. Otherwise he is up-to-date on his shots, got a clean bill of health, and is now ready to find a forever home.

Charlie's forever home should involve lots of exercise. Charlie loves kids and enjoys nothing more then getting pets and giving kisses. Because of his high energy, he probably should not go to a home with very small children. Having another dog in the house would be helpful, but is not necessary. He would be a very good running partner! Charlie loves attention and will get your attention with a "high five" or head nudge. If he gets it, that's just great, if not, he will lay down. He is such a nice dog!
