Dash 06-219

Profile

5/18/06: I would like to introduce Dash. Isn't he beautiful? He is 1.5 years old, and 74 lb. of pure and simple "PUPPY". He was surrendered to the Humane Society by his owner, with the help of a neighbor who got tired of taking Dash home each time he was found running loose in the neighborhood. The neighbors took him to the Humane Society and the owners were contacted. They chose to surrender him and in turn, the Humane Society called RAGOM.

Dash spent three days with us here in Rapid City, SD before moving to his foster home in Sioux Falls, SD. In that time - I fell in LOVE, so did my husband, and so did our four dogs. Dash knows a few commands, and is so very eager to please. He gets along great with all our dogs, tolerated his bath(s) and brushing and polishing like a pro, doesn't guard his food, rode great in my mini-van and is as quiet as a big golden church mouse. He pulls like a sled dog and is VERY strong when on his leash, so he has been "acquainted" with a Gentle Leader. In time, with the help of the Gentle Leader, he will become a wonderful walker. He's a little 'over the top' enthusiastic, but not hyper. The worst thing I can say about him is that he is the messiest drinker and will leave a trail of water for 6 feet after having his fill at the water bowl. Dash is neutered, up to date on all his vaccinations, heart worm and fecal negative and he is even micro chipped. Did I mention he is beautiful?

Dash's future updates will be from his Sioux Falls, SD foster; I just wanted to get his initial story submitted along with his very first RAGOM photo shoot. He is truly as beautiful inside as he is outside, and will be a wonderful family member to some lucky approved applicant who is committed to giving him the time, training and attention he needs and deserves.

We love you Dash, and we wish you a long and happy life,

Dash was adopted today by the most wonderful family - Mike and Joanne W! Dash and family got along wonderfully. They are a very special, kind and loving family and a definite PERFECT fit for Dash boy. They went for a long walk with Dash, interacted with all my troops and Dash and all is great.

Dash will have a special great forever home and I am sure will just thrive with his people. Another very special happy ending of this foster dog to a permanent home! They are on their way back home now.

Hurray for all! Hurray for RAGOM, best rescue group there is!

Here are pictures of Dash taken today. He is helping me in the yard by chasing away every bird I am feeding, drinking the bird bath water I just cleaned, and tossing toys around. This is a beautiful dog, and a happy one! Loves the outdoors. We enjoy having Dash. He wants your undivided attention, too! He is a wonder to watch! He will be a great companion and a very willing student! We love fostering Dash....he and the rest of the troops are great. He is definitely a 20 month old though! Not 10-11 years old like mine!

Dash is a absolutely wonderful, perfect Golden dog. He not only has the best looks we have seen, he also understands basic commands, listens attentively when asked NOT to do something (pick up wrong item to possibly chew); sits; retrieves, (but does not always bring it back to us, just the general vicinity); walks on Gentle Leader like a pro (you just need 2 fingers and he is right by your side); will also walk great with harness and leash if you keep leash short. LOVES water sprinkers, bathtubs (without water so far); water dish, baby pools….

Loves to play fetch and watch birds. He gets along with all the troops great. Cats are getting more used to him….he does like to “round ‘em up or something” strictly play mode. Dash does not ask to get up on furniture or a bed (we do not ask either); sleeps all night and no accidents…on the floor by us on a blanket…So he definitely can go from 10-11 at night until 5-7 or so in the morning. I am a part time employee so I am only away for approximately 4 hours or so.

Dash loves kisses and is very very loving. You can take anything away or out of his mouth with absolutely no issues. When taking a treat, has a very “soft” “Golden” mouth…. Loves balls and stuffed toys. Has had an interest in my TP in the bathroom on the roller! Goes out to potty with everyone…thinks he needs to drink all the time so I do put the water up for a while for potty purposes just because he is new and I want to be careful. He loves to be brushed. Belly rubs are great. Appetite fine.

This is an awesome dog who would really appreciate and should have obedience/puppy dog classes to learn, bond, mature, and truly appreciate his future owners. I feel this would be very important for him and a new home. Dash is around 71#, a honey colored pure golden, Golden. Perfect stature and has a gaite that is wonderful to watch. Dash needs his exercise regularly. He is a big baby ready for fun. When he is on a walk around the neighborhood, he is absolutely fine with traffic and their sounds, other dogs, other children, sudden sounds, etc. He will be right by your side. I feel a family with no real young ones is best due to his size and age…he could run them over….more with love and size than anything.

I also feel someone who is knowledgeable about dogs and the breed is best. This guy is one in a million and needs the very best, patient, loving home. Someone willing to train and work with him. He will give someone his whole heart and undivided attention to the right home.

We truly appreciate and love this boy! The only flaw if you HAD to find one with him, is he slobbers when he drinks! Drip drip drip…..and so it goes.

We received Dash boy yesterday, Thursday, May 18th from transport people in Rapid City in the afternoon. He arrived with 3 other pups. This dog is so beautiful just takes your breath away. Such a stunning young man. He did great on his trip over here to Sioux Falls, just like the respectable guy he is. He was great when introduced to our furry butts. We have 3 canines: 4 yr Border Collie, 10 year Golden and 11 year Corgi. We have three kitties, too. The rest of the day went very well. Dash adjusted very well.
